Hello, I’m writing with a heavy heart as I navigate a very difficult situation. I am currently caring for my elderly grandmother, whose health has declined significantly and who is now approaching hospice care. On top of everything she is enduring, she has been experiencing severe, chronic allergies that make it increasingly hard for her to breathe. Because of this, we’ve had to confront the heartbreaking reality that we can no longer keep our cat in the home. This decision has been incredibly difficult for me. He is a 3-year-old Maine Coon mix—neutered, gentle, affectionate, and truly the sweetest presence. He is not microchipped, but he has been well cared for and deeply loved. I can’t bring myself to surrender him to a shelter. I want him to find a safe, loving home, even if that means covering any fees needed to ensure he’s placed somewhere he will be cherished.
