Story
Meet Leonard Maltese-Yorkie Mix **Age:** 8 months **Status:** Neutered Leonard is a playful, affectionate **8-month-old Maltese-Yorkie mix** who loves people and enjoys being part of family life. He is crate trained, pee pad trained, and sleeps quietly through most of the night, though he may occasionally need an early morning potty break. As an adolescent puppy, Leonard is still learning manners, impulse control, and social skills. He enjoys playing with other **friendly small breed dogs under 15 pounds** and would thrive with a family committed to continuing his force-free training and positive socialization. ## Leonard's Ideal Home * Detached single-family home * Secure, fully fenced yard * Commitment to force-free training * No children under 12 years of age (Leonard finds fast movements and loud voices frightening and would be happiest in a quieter home.) * No medium or large breed dogs ## Adoption Area Edmonton Beaumont Devon Leduc Fort Saskatchewan Sherwood Park Spruce Grove Stony Plain We are unable to accept applications from outside our adoption area, outside Alberta, or outside Canada. ## Adoption Fee **$760** ## Adoption Requirements * Adoption application * Home check * Veterinary reference check * 3 Personal reference checks not related to you. ## IMPORTANT **When applying, please include a detailed bio about yourself, all household members, your current pets, your home environment, and your yard and fencing. Applications submitted without a bio will not be considered and will not receive a response due to the high volume of inquiries.** Please request our **About Our Rescue** information package. Leonard's complete biography is also available via email on request. **Meeting Leonard is by approved application only or by attending one of our Meet & Greet events. Please email us to find out when our next Meet & Greet will be held.**

Story
Hi, I’m Ice Pop!About me:My first decade of life was incredibly difficult. I spent most of my life confined to a cage, with very little human interaction, affection, or the chance to experience the world. My foster mama doesn’t think I had ever been outside before coming into rescue. Sadly, because I didn’t receive the medical care I needed, I am also completely deaf. But despite everything I’ve been through, I’m a quirky little guy who is slowly discovering that the world can be a safe and wonderful place — and that people can be kind.Things I LOVE: Going for walks in my sling, having my own safe space — my kennel is my happy place and Wet food!Things I DON’T LOVE:Being chased, Busy, high-traffic environments and Fast movements — they can be scary for meMy special request: I’m looking for a quiet, low-traffic retirement home with patient, gentle and loving people who understand that I’ve had a rough start and will need time to continue learning that life is safe.My forever family will also need to continue supporting my skin and coat as they heal, as well as staying on top of my dental health. I may need a little extra care, but I promise I’m worth it.Kennel trained: YES! My kennel is my safe space.House trained: Not quite. I use pee pads sometimes and also wear belly bands.Dogs: Yes!Cats: Yes!Children: No — too much energy for this little guy!I may have spent my first ten years simply surviving. Now, I’m ready to spend my next chapter feeling safe, loved and spoiled.

Story
**🏠 Currently in a Vancouver foster home** Hi! My name is Oat, and I'm a tiny 2-year-old Maltese weighing just 3.2 kg (7 lbs). People always tell me I have the cutest little face and floppy ears that make me look a bit like a Cocker Spaniel. I have a long body, short little legs, and a heart that's even bigger than I am. My life didn't start the way every dog deserves. I was rescued from a breeding facility, and now I'm finally getting the chance to discover what it means to be loved. I think I'm going to like this new life very much. If you're looking for a best friend, I might be your perfect match. I absolutely adore people. Whether we've just met or we've known each other forever, I'm always happy to say hello with a wagging tail. I also get along wonderfully with other dogs, so I'd be happy living with a canine sibling or being your one-and-only little companion. One of the things my foster family loves most about me is how quiet and gentle I am. I rarely bark, I'm easygoing, and I enjoy simply being near the people I love. I'm also a great eater! I happily finish my meals, especially my Royal Canin Starter kibble, and I never say no to a tasty piece of boiled potato and sweet potato. Right now, I'm learning to use pee pads and adjusting to life in a home. Everything is still new to me, but I'm trying my best every single day. Since I never had the chance to experience a normal family life, I'll need someone patient to teach me the basics—walking on a leash, enjoying daily walks, and learning good manners. The good news is that I love people and I'm eager to learn, so I know we'll have lots of fun figuring everything out together. I've already left my past behind. Now all I need is a family who will love me, guide me, and promise that I'll never have to wonder where I belong again. Could that family be yours?
