Story
Please read the pet description IN IT'S ENTIRETY before applying.  Thank you for your cooperation. NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 8/8/2026:  Harmony - female - we were told she is 8 years old, but we think she's probably more like 10+ years old - 8.4 pounds - Maltese/Poodle Reason for intake:  We were tagged multiple times in a social media post about a Maltese / Poodle mix needing immediate help.  Sadly, the owner is in poor health... initially in the hospital and now in a long-term care facility.  She has not been able to properly care for Harmony for a long time.  Please NO NEGATIVE COMMENTS as we go over her condition.  She has two very infected ears... both spewing pus... which has also moved to her eyes.  The missing hair on her face is likely due to her rubbing her face because of the ear infections; however, we are going to have our vet do a skin scrape to rule out any type of mange.  She has lots of matting all around her body and what appears to be urine, feces and drainage from her ears mixed into the matting.  Her nails were extremely long as well.  Her ears seem to be the most pressing issue, though.  It must be very painful and uncomfortable for her.  We were told she's spayed, but we'll contact the vet she saw from time-to-time to confirm that.  She's heading to our vet the week of 8/10/2026.  This little girl is going to feel so much better very soon.  If you'd like to donate to her care, click on the donate button on this post (via Facebook) or donate at https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/NR2R. NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS:  Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed.  Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining.   In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason.  We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption.  In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered.  Please note…  we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption.  Please wait until the dog is available for adoption.  We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link:  https://www.facebook.com/share/1B46skRWF5/ OR you can keep checking our website at www.roadtorescuela.org.  We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”  ~ Gandhi Be responsible ~  Always spay/neuter, keep your dogs on heartworm prevention, vaccinate against disease... and if you bring a pet into your life, commit to that pet for life.  Blessings. Please read the pet description IN IT'S ENTIRETY before applying.  Thank you for your cooperation. NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 9/2/2026:  Jett - male - 8 years old - 18.10 dense pounds (he's small but thick) - Maltese mix Reason for intake:  Jett came to us from animal control.  This sweet boy came to them heavily matted.  It was so bad that they sent him to their vet for sedation and shave down.  He had a bacterial skin infection under all of that mess.  They then contacted us for help and we took him in.  He has a fatty-type mass around his rear right flank area, along with one on his chest.  We will have both removed when he goes under for a dental.  He's already neutered.  He is the sweetest boy EVER!  He's heading to our vet the week of 9/7/2026!  Stay tuned! Story
We have had Hynes for 10 years. He belongs to my son, but he was unable to move with him. I travel for work while dealing with medical treatment that takes a lot of my time away from the house. We are saddened for it to come to this, but he deserves the best life!Hynes is sweet, cuddly and never meets a stranger. He doesn't do a lot of barking, unless he's chasing cats! He loves laying in the grass under the sun, belly rubs, long walks and chicken is his favorite food. He can be skiddish and not a fan of car rides unless he can be on your lap. He also isn't crazy about toys and prefers human interaction and play.He will need a space that he can go to when oversrimulated or when he is done peopling. Oh, and he likes to steal your blankets to nap with.
