Meet bad bunny Benito! Benito’s finder passed by him on the streets of North Philly on her commute. Benito stood out with his big husky neck and cheeks and his poofy bunny tail. The second time she saw him, she took him with her with the intention of TNR (trap, neuter, return). However, when she got him home, she realized he was sweet and fun and tried to see if any rescues would take him first. She then became concerned because while he used the litter box, he also leaked pee. She was also concerned that his belly looked swollen. She got attached and decided to offer to foster him while continuing to seek rescue placement. Familiar Hearts, thankfully, agreed to take him on. Nothing was found to contribute to his urinary incontinence. It was believed to be a side effective of his different body, born without a tail, or Manx syndrome. Benito absolutely loves being scratched, pet, and brushed along his head and back. He’s particular about his feet, belly, and hind end being touched. He has a fun and sweet personality. He’s built like a football player and loves chasing after toys flying through the air. He’s also down to chill and lay against you. He loves showing his affection through trills and headbutts. He’ll also let you know he wants something with his meows. He occasionally tries to lightly nip, sometimes if you try to leave, as affection, or when overstimulated. But he’s never hurt his foster or broken skin. Benito is ready to find his special people out there. This new friend has just arrived! They have come to us either as a transfer from another shelter, being found as a stray, or have been surrendered to us by their owner. When our friends are new to us, we are typically unsure of their full background, litter box habits, comfort with handling, or experience with other pets or children. Our staff will spend some time reviewing any information provided by previous owners and spend some time with our new friend so that we can better update their biography. If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific cat but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! We may require all household members, including children, to come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, and a small bag of food to get you started.
