Hi there… I’m Samson 🐾🤎I’m a big, sweet Mastiff/Lab mix with a handsome brindle and white coat — and if you look closely, you’ll notice my left eye has a little splash of blue mixed in. Pretty cool, right? 😉 I’m about 6 years old and weigh in at a whopping 94 pounds. Don’t let the size fool you though… I’m what they call a gentle giant. Before I came to the shelter, I was mostly an outdoor dog. Because of that, we can’t say I’m 100% house trained just yet — but I do know how to use a doggie door and I always do my business outside in my kennel. I’m a smart boy, so polishing up my indoor manners should be a breeze. 🧠✨ Since being here, I’ve discovered the finer things in life — comfy beds, cool air conditioning, and being close to my people. Ohhh, the cuddles. I am a lover through and through. A certified snuggle bug. A velcro dog, no question. If you sit down, I’m right there. If you lay down, I’m even closer. Belly rubs and treats? Instant best friends for life. 🥰I do great with other dogs and have a very go-with-the-flow personality, but I do appreciate slow and patient introductions while I’m getting to know a new friend. Once I’m comfortable, I’m happy to run and play. I’m great with kids over 5 and have a sweet, steady nature that makes me an easy companion. I walk wonderfully on a leash and don’t pull much at all. Now… if I spot a squirrel or another dog, I might get a little excited and tug briefly — but I respond well to corrections. I also love to sniff everything on walks. Every bush, every blade of grass — it’s very important business. 🌿👃I load into a vehicle easily and ride well — I’ll happily take up a seat on family trips (I hope you don’t mind sharing 😉). I even enjoy playing in the water when I get the chance. Most of the time, I’m a pretty quiet fella., but if someone approaches my home, I will bark to alert you — and let’s just say, with my size and deep voice, I can sound pretty intimidating. Underneath it all though, I’m just a big softie who wants to protect and love my family. I’m highly intelligent and eager to please, so continued training will come naturally. All I really want is a home where I can be included, loved, and allowed to lean my big head against you whenever I feel like it.
