Story
Absolutely. I added that moment because it really shows how immediately everyone rallied around her, and the fact that someone rode with her just to comfort her is especially touching. ❤️ **Fair warning—this adoption write-up may be a little longer than most, but Sara Lee has a story worth telling.** ❤️ Sara Lee is approximately 3 years old, and her story with us began in the worst possible way. In the early morning hours, she was left outside the gates of our shelter—bleeding, nonresponsive, and taking only very shallow breaths. As staff began arriving for work, they found her lying there, unable to even drive through the gate. It immediately became **all hands on deck to help this sweet girl.** Sara Lee was gently lifted and placed into a staff member’s car and rushed to the veterinarian at the City shelter, with another staff member riding beside her to comfort her and let her know she wasn’t alone. We were very guarded about whether she would survive, but we asked them to please call us if she made it. And much to our surprise and absolute joy… **we got that call.** There was no hesitation—we jumped at the chance to bring Sara Lee back to ACT and make her part of our family. We suspect Sara Lee was hit by a car, and sadly, she will likely lose one of her eyes. But this girl has already shown us that losing an eye won’t take away an ounce of her sweetness or her ability to love. ❤️ She is wonderful with other dogs, friendly with people, and although we’re still getting to know her, everything we’ve seen tells us what a truly special girl she is. After being left alone when she needed someone the most, Sara Lee deserves a home where she will never have to wonder if she’s safe again. **She survived. She fought her way back. Now all she needs is someone to finish her story with the kind of love she should have had all along.** 🐾❤️

Story
M - 3 years old - Siberian Husky/Mastiff Mix - Sam (formerly Lemonade) brings the just-right mix of silly and sweet. Whether he’s chasing toys, splashing in kiddie pools, or enjoying a good head scratch, he's always has a smile on his face. He takes treats gently, sleeps through the night (especially if he's sleeping next to his people), and politely stays off furniture. One of his favorite ways to unwind is chewing frozen Kongs, using lick mats, and playing with food puzzles which help him settle and focus. He does best when given constructive ways to burn both mental and physical energy. Sam is house trained and knows his basic commands and is eager to please, which makes continued training very doable. He is still working on crate training, but he’s making steady progress. He happily eats meals in his crate, goes in and out on his own, and can rest comfortably inside for a few hours or while his people run errands. He does well with other dogs. He has a very high prey drive too, so he must not be able to interact with cats, small animals, or livestock. Medically, he has been diagnosed with mild bilateral hip dysplasia and early arthritis in his left hip. With proper care, added supplements, weight management, and appropriate levels of activity, he can continue to enjoy an active, happy life. Sam is looking for a home that understands his energy, will continue his training, and is ready to give him the structure and enrichment he needs to thrive. ADOPT To adopt, come see us!
