Meet Beau! At 6 years old, I never expected to be looking for a new family, but sometimes life changes in ways no one can control. My dad had to move into a care home, and that meant saying goodbye to me too. Now I’m hoping there’s another family out there with room in their home — and on their couch — for a big guy like me. My name is Beau, and I’m a 6-year-old neutered Great Dane/Mastiff mix. And please don’t let that number 6 fool you! I still have plenty of tail wags, happy moments and oodles of love left to give. One of the best things about me? I’m a pretty easygoing guy! I’m good with other dogs, cats AND kids, so I should have an easy time transitioning into a home with dog-savvy children or four-legged family members who are comfortable sharing their space with a very large new brother. I’ve already known what it feels like to be loved, and now I’m just looking for someone willing to give me that feeling again. I may take up a little more room than your average dog, but I promise I’ll make up for it with an equally enormous heart. My adoption fee is $300. I am neutered, started on my vaccination schedule and microchipped. If you have room in your life for a handsome, lovable gentle giant, I’d sure love to meet you. Head to www.mjhs.ca to submit your adoption application and come meet me! Love, Beau

Story
Hi, I’m Bailey Mae! 🐾 I’m a 1-year, 9-month-old Mastiff/Blue Heeler mix, and I’m looking for a family who understands that sometimes the best things in life are worth waiting for. You see, I’m a pretty shy girl. New people and new situations can make me nervous, and I need a little time to decide that everything is going to be okay. When I first arrived at the shelter, I was not a fan of that person following me around with a camera. But look at me now! Sitting like a princess, posing for my photos and even offering my paw for a shake. That’s the thing about me — give me time, patience and kindness, and you’ll get to watch me shine. I’ve met other dogs and did well with them, and I’ve lived with kids before too. Once I’m comfortable, I can get a little excited and jumpy, so I’m still working on remembering all my best manners. But here’s the really good part: once I decide you’re one of my people, I am a total cuddle bug. There’s something pretty special about earning the trust of a scared dog, and I promise that when I finally let you into my heart, it will be worth the wait. My adoption fee is $300. I’m spayed, started on my vaccination schedule and microchipped. Think you might be the patient, loving family I’ve been waiting for? Head to www.mjhs.ca to submit your application to come meet me. Love, Bailey Mae

LYCAN: TURNS OUT, THERE’S MORE TO THIS GUY THAN WE KNEW! 🐾 When Lycan arrived at our shelter back in May, he came with nine years of history—and we shared what we knew about him based on the information we were given. But here’s the wonderful thing about spending time with a dog: they get to show you who they really are. ❤️ And over the past few months, Lycan has shown us that this handsome 9-year-old Mastiff mix may have more options for his forever home than we originally thought! We initially believed Lycan needed to be adopted with his lifelong companion, Amelia, and that other animals weren’t really his cup of tea. Since then, we’ve gotten to know him for ourselves, and Lycan has surprised us in the best possible ways. He does not need to be adopted with Amelia. While they came from the same home and have spent their lives together, both dogs have shown us that they can be happy and comfortable independently. He seems to be okay with other dogs. And cats? Turns out they may be okay too! Of course, introductions are always important, and we would want to make sure any resident pets and Lycan are a good match before sending him home. What hasn’t changed is what a lovely boy he is. Lycan is quiet, gentle and loyal. He walks beautifully on leash and would be perfectly happy joining you for a neighbourhood stroll before heading home to claim a comfy spot nearby. At nine years old, he’s past the puppy chaos and has settled into that wonderful stage of life where good company, good snacks and a soft bed are pretty high on the priority list. And after more than three months in our care, we think it’s time this handsome gentleman traded his shelter kennel for a home of his own. Please don’t overlook Lycan because of the number 9. Senior dogs have so much love left to give—and there’s something pretty special about being the person who gets to give them their next chapter. Lycan’s adoption fee is $300. He is neutered, started on his vaccination schedule and microchipped. Think Lycan might be your guy? Head to MJHS.ca, click Adopt → Adoptable Animals, find Lycan and submit your application. Once approved, we’ll arrange a visit so you can meet this sweet boy for yourself. Lycan came to us with a story already written. We’ve spent the last few months discovering there are a few chapters missing—and we’d really love for the next one to begin at home.

Story
Meet Thor! Thor is a 3-year-old Husky mix. He is vaccinated and neutered; this handsome boy came to us due to his previous family not having enough time to meet his needs. If we had to sum him up in one word, it would be "exuberant"—Thor is full of life, spirit, and enthusiasm! This guy thrives in the great outdoors. Whether he's romping through open spaces, exploring, or soaking up the fresh air, Thor is happiest when he can stretch his legs and burn off energy. Because of his high-energy nature, shelter life isn't the ideal environment for him—he's ready to get out and experience the world with someone who can keep up and give him the extra training he needs to be at his full potential! Thor is also incredibly sweet and eager to please. He also LOVES treats! Thor does have some prior experience with other dogs, but slow introductions (or foster-to-adopt) will help set him up for success. That being said, Thor would do best with an experienced dog owner! With the right companion by his side, this could truly be a match made in heaven!
