Story
Meet Amelia. This 9-year-old spayed female Mastiff mix may have a grey muzzle and a few extra pounds, but don’t let that fool you for a second… Amelia is still young at heart and ready to find her forever family. Amelia was clearly very loved in her previous home. She slept in bed with her owner, rode shotgun on every car ride, enjoyed daily strolls and ended her days curled up beside her favorite person for snuggles. She knows what it means to be part of a family… and we would love nothing more than for her to have that again. Unfortunately, Amelia’s mama had to move and was unable to bring Amelia or her brother Lycan along to the new home. Situations like this are heartbreaking and we truly wish more rentals understood that pets are family too. But while Amelia’s life has changed, one thing hasn’t — she still has so much love left to give. Amelia is a quiet, gentle older girl looking for a soft place to land and someone to love her through her golden years. If you are open to welcoming two older dogs into your home, we would love for you to consider adopting Amelia and Lycan together. Amelia’s adoption fee is $300. She is spayed, started on her vaccination schedule and microchipped. Head to our website at MJHS.ca and click the Adopt tab, then Adoptable Animals and scroll to Amelia’s face to submit your application. Once approved, we’ll schedule a visit to make sure she’s the perfect fit for your family.

Story
Meet Lycan. This 9-year-old neutered Mastiff mix is a gentle senior boy searching for a soft place to land with his sister and lifelong best friend, Amelia. The two have spent their entire lives together and after losing the only home they’ve ever known, we would love nothing more than to keep them side by side as they begin their next chapter. Lycan is a quiet, loyal boy who walks beautifully on leash and would love nothing more than gentle strolls through the neighbourhood with his new family. He isn’t interested in making new animal friends — Amelia is all the company he needs — so a home without other dogs or cats would be best for him. Like so many senior dogs, Lycan doesn’t ask for much. A comfy bed, some love, a few treats and someone to spend his days beside would make this handsome boy very happy. Lycan has his paws crossed that there’s someone out there willing to open their heart and home to a pair of seniors so he and Amelia can stay together. We know adopting older dogs may not be the first choice for everyone, but there is something incredibly special about giving dogs like these the happily-ever-after they deserve. Lycan’s adoption fee is $300. He is neutered, started on his vaccination schedule and microchipped. We will reduce both Lycan and Amelia’s adoption fees for an approved home willing to adopt them together. Head to our website at MJHS.ca and click the Adopt tab, then Adoptable Animals and scroll to Lycan’s face to submit your application. Once approved, we’ll schedule a visit to make sure he’s the perfect fit for your family.

Story
Meet Thor! Thor is a nearly 3-year-old Husky mix. He is vaccinated and neutered; this handsome boy came to us due to his previous family not having enough time to meet his needs. If we had to sum him up in one word, it would be "exuberant"—Thor is full of life, spirit, and enthusiasm! This guy thrives in the great outdoors. Whether he's romping through open spaces, exploring, or soaking up the fresh air, Thor is happiest when he can stretch his legs and burn off energy. Because of his high-energy nature, shelter life isn't the ideal environment for him—he's ready to get out and experience the world with someone who can keep up and give him the extra training he needs to be at his full potential! Thor is also incredibly sweet and eager to please. He also LOVES treats! Thor does have some prior experience with other dogs, but slow introductions (or foster-to-adopt) will help set him up for success. That being sad, Thor would do best with an experienced dog owner! With the right companion by his side, this could truly be a match made in heaven!
