Hi, I'm Sweetie Speckles — a striking 4-year-old white and tan spotted miniature dachshund with a heart as big as they come! 🐕 I'm spayed, housetrained with a doggy door (which I taught myself to use in just 24 hours!), and crate trained, so I'm ready to settle right into your home. I'm friendly and playful with other dogs and cats, wonderful with children, and I love going for walks on leash and playing fetch with my ball. Even though I have some vision challenges, they don't slow me down one bit — I get around beautifully and live life to the fullest. Meet Nitro Location: Troy MO Adoption Fee: $550 Nitro is a 3 month old male long haired black and tan Mini dachshund puppy that is currently around 6.5 pounds. This beautiful black and tan long haired dachshund boy is just a delight!! He is such a sweet and sensitive boy who loves attention and lots of snuggles. He has a calm nature and seems to adapt quickly to changes in his environment. He recently moved to another foster home and quickly picked out his new buddy, the largest dog in the home. He loves other dogs but the special love and attention from humans is his favorite thing. He is all puppy so he is playful and loves toys. He can be quick and doesn’t understand that feet could hurt him, so for that he is a trip hazard. The dachshund breed is known for that long body and care must be taken to protect his back. So no jumping off furniture for this boy. Stairs/ramps to furniture is advised. Stair wedges can be made or purchased to help protect his back. Nitro has been vetted and will need to continue his puppy vaccination series. The vet found him to be a healthy puppy with Giardia which he is currently half way through his treatment and will be completed before he is ready to go to his furever home. He will start on monthly Heartworm prevention on the first of the month. He is microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Nitro is just a puppy so potty training can be expected when adopting a puppy. Time, patience, and consistency along with rewards for good habits is recommended. Going out upon waking, every hour, after eating/drinking, and last thing before bed is a good starting point. Nitro is currently enjoying his Nulo puppy kibble, Freeze dried raw toppers, and healthy treats. He should remain on a higher quality puppy food up to a year of age then gradually advanced to adult food. Proper playtime and exercise is important to strengthen his body as he grows. Time and length appropriate walks are a great way to accomplish this. He is still a small puppy so proper rest time is also important. Because of his age and size, Nitro has not yet been neutered. His adopter will be responsible for having the procedure completed at the appropriate age. Leia’s Hope Canine Rescue will provide a credit directly to the adopter’s veterinarian to help with the cost of his neuter. We are a volunteer run rescue and all our dogs are in foster homes. Please allow 7-10 business days for processing applications. A puppy is a commitment that may last 15 years or longer. Applicants should carefully consider the time, expense, training and lifestyle changes involved in raising a puppy before applying. Nitro is located in Troy, Missouri. Applicants must be willing to travel to Troy. We do not transport or ship dogs. Those flying must bring Nitro home with them in the airplane cabin; he will not be permitted to travel in cargo. Meet Caramel Macchiato (Mac)! 🩵🐾 Location: Troy, Missouri Adoption Fee: $550 What do you get when you mix a Chihuahua and a Miniature Dachshund? A little guy who is SO DARN ADORABLE! 🥰 Meet Caramel Macchiato, or Mac for short, a sweet 3-month-old puppy who may be a little shy at first, but warms up quickly with love, snuggles, and a little time. At just 3.5 pounds, Mac is the smallest of the group, but don’t let his tiny size fool you! This little guy is full of playful energy and loves spending time with the other puppies. He enjoys toys, balls, and especially toys he can chew! A good game of chase or tug-of-war is right up his alley. 🩵🐾 Once Mac feels comfortable, his sweet personality begins to shine. He is looking for a family who will give him the patience, love, and guidance he needs to grow into a happy, confident companion. 🩵 Mac’s Medical & Wellness Information Mac has been fully vetted and is microchipped. Unfortunately, we did not receive vaccine records for him other than his rabies vaccination. He will need several additional vaccines to complete his puppy vaccine series and help keep him safe and protected. He has been started on Nulo Puppy food, freeze-dried raw toppers, and healthy treats, and he is doing well with his new diet. All of the puppies arrived with Giardia and are currently more than halfway through their treatment. Thankfully, things are looking much better (if you know what I mean! 💩). We are also adding pumpkin daily and probiotics to help support their digestive health and get these sweet babies on the road to healthier systems. 🩵 Potty Training & Puppy Life Mac is a tiny puppy with a tiny bladder, which means potty training may take a little extra time, patience, and consistency. A regular potty schedule will be important as he learns. His family should plan to take him outside: 🐾 About every hour while awake 🐾 After eating and drinking 🐾 First thing in the morning 🐾 Last thing before bedtime Having another confident dog in the home may also help Mac learn and build confidence with potty training. Mac will need plenty of frequent nap times throughout the day to recharge his little batteries for his next play session! We recommend setting up a puppy pen as a safe and comfortable space where he can nap, eat, play, and sleep when his family is busy or unable to keep a close eye on him. 🩵 Small Body, Special Considerations Mac’s tiny size means he will need extra supervision and care in his new home. ⚠️ Trip hazard: Because Mac is so small, special attention should be used around children who are running and playing, as well as older adults or anyone with physical limitations. He could easily get underfoot. ⚠️ Back and joint protection: As part Dachshund, Mac’s family should take special care to protect his back and joints. We recommend researching both the Chihuahua and Dachshund breeds so you can better understand his needs and help keep him healthy for years to come. ⚠️ Furniture safety: Mac should be taught to use stairs or a ramp when getting on and off furniture, helping to reduce the risk of injury from jumping.
