Story
Dwayne is an 11-month-old, 12-pound male doxie mix from California. Dwayne is a playful, loving, silly pup.
Dwayne has adjusted very well during his time in Manhattan. He enjoys playing fetch, napping next to his people, and taking in the sights and smells of NYC. Dwayne is doing well understanding “sit,” “paw,” “come,” and working on other obedience training. During his time with his foster family, Dwayne seems to be housetrained. He knows to go outside, and does well with potty breaks every ~3 hours. Dwayne is still working on his leash skills. He is excited to take in the hustle and bustle of the city, and is working on some leash reactivity around people and other dogs.
Dwayne’s forever family will need to continue working with him to reinforce and advance the progress he's been making. Dwayne is very chatty and will bark at people or other dogs if he has the opportunity. He’s a small guy with a big voice! He does well with redirection and is already showing great progress! Dwayne has done pretty well in his crate during the day. He whines a bit as he settles down, but will rest in there when he’s told to. Dwayne prefers to roam freely in his foster family’s apartment, and is much quieter when he has more space to stretch out.
He loves to be cozy with his foster family and can often be found with his favorite squeaky toy or tennis ball. Dwayne is looking for an active family. He appreciates downtime and will nap during the day, but loves to run around and play! He would do best as a SOLO DOG, or with a dog friend to play with. We would recommend Dwayne go to a home with older children who can keep up with his high energy.
Vaccinated for rabies and DA2PP. Neutered and heartworm negative. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal.
