Story
Sunny is a Sato (street dog) that was found while on vacation in Puerto Rico in October 2023. A rescue organization took her to a farm for 2 months before she was flown to me in New York City in December. Sunny is estimated to be between 1-2 years old. She is playful, smart, energetic, and extremely affectionate! Sunny has been living in New York City for 3 months. Although she has come so far in so many things, she is miserable in an urban setting. She needs space to walk comfortably outside without constant strangers, bicycles, and dogs passing by in close proximity. Sunny needs a patient owner who is happy to work on her reactivity and provide a quieter environment for safe and happy walks. Sunny will thrive at a home with land or a yard and space outside to roam in peace. She is exceptionally loved and will be missed dearly! The most ideal situation is one where the previous owner can keep in touch with photos/ videos and possibly even visits if allowed.

Story
Eunice is a 9-year-old, 21-pound female dachshund mix from Alabama. She's a sweet and mellow pup who loves to cuddle. She doesn't bark at all, but has her own funny little opera going - it truly feels like she sings sometimes! She will whine dramatically if you try to move her when she's settled somewhere cozily. Eunice walks very well on leash, mostly potty trained outside and fully on pee pads. She's so long that she's not the best at going down a flight of stairs, but is fine going up them. She would be happy in most homes where can get snuggles. She just ignores her current small foster doggy siblings, so we think she'd be fine with dogs her size or smaller. We haven't seen her around cats.  Vaccinated for DHPP, rabies, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick and heartworm prevention, next round due May 12. To apply for Eunice, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org ##2006735##

Story
Mercury is an affectionate 1 year old, 20lb dachshund mix who is wants to be your forever buddy and companion! Once this snuggle bug feels comfortable, he’ll melt into your arms like butter! Mercury is on a weight gain journey and needs to put on a few pounds to get to a healthy weight. He is a good eater and should be closer to 25lbs healthily. He’s adjusting great to the city and his foster’s home. Mercury is working on potty training and confident walking! During the day, he loves his dog bed, but especially loves being smushed into his foster’s side, or following her around the apartment. He’s very sweet to other dogs and people.  This smart boy is very food motivated, and already knows a lot of commands/words in Spanish! We’re working on teaching him English for things he knows like sit, let’s go, etc, as well as new words that he’s picked up quickly so far. He loves to share how he feels with his expressive tail and giving kisses! Mercury is looking for an adopter who loves snuggles, patience and especially sharing treats. Mercury is an absolute angel and he can’t wait to meet you! Vaccinated for rabies, DA2PP, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Mercury tested positive for ehrlichia and is being treated with 30 days of doxycycline. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Mercury, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. Story
Estimated full-grown size: 40lbs  This puppy is joining Social Tees on 4/13 and is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program starting that day. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight-up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Level of dog ownership experience needed: INTERMEDIATE: As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Relevant puppy care experience is a huge plus, but bare minimum the adopter must have TONS of time and patience. Raising a puppy can be a lot of fun, but it’s also tremendous work. Puppies’ personalities and exercise/stimulation requirements change dramatically between now and when they’re a year old as their bodies and brains develop, so an active lifestyle and the ability to adapt to a pup’s evolving needs are a must. We strongly urge professional dog training with a rewards-based trainer from the get-go. Adults only or kids ages 8 and up – all puppies go through a mouthy, rambunctious phase and often accidentally hurt children when playing. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN BREED RESEARCH to make sure you have a better understanding of the kind of temperament and exercise requirements this dog may have as an adult. Energy level  MEDIUM: Very young puppies sleep and nap a lot, but their energy level skyrockets when they become teens (4 months to around a year). As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day at a minimum. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Potty trained? Working on this skill. Puppies under 12 weeks old are often on track with their wee pad skills, but they’re too young to walk outside in public NYC areas yet because they haven’t finished their puppy vaccine series. Puppies older than 12 weeks are usually learning to do their business outside. Potty training takes a lot of patience, consistency, and cleanup.  Crate trained? Nope. None of our new puppies have been formally trained, but many of our foster parents/adopters choose to crate train. It can be a great way to keep puppies safe and teach them independence. Social with dogs? Yes. Some puppies are shy, others are bold, but all have the potential to be taught healthy socializing skills. It’s a huge part of raising a puppy and must be done carefully. How they interact with other dogs depends largely on how their humans help them learn to.  Social with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision) Yes… but most puppies are not a great match for a home with kids under age 8 because they go through intense mouthy play and rambunctious phases and often accidentally hurt young kids while playing. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.   Social with cats? Yes. Almost all puppies have the potential to be friends with a cat. It’s on the adopter to know their cat’s temperament and preferences and to teach their puppy respectful manners.  Mouthy play:   High! All puppies go through phases where they chew your stuff and grab your hands, arms, and feet… puppies naturally explore the world, play, and test boundaries with their mouths. (It also happens when they’re teething.) Their teeth are super sharp though, so it can be a very painful phase for humans and other animals in the home. Proper training, outlets, and socialization are key. Leash manners: None. :) Will need to learn this skill.   Separation anxiety: MEDIUM: Most puppies have some level of separation anxiety as they learn to self-soothe. Often they cry the first 10+ minutes when they are left home alone or in a crate. Consistent training and alone time are crucial. Medical status: Up to date on their DHPP and Bordetella vaccines (for dogs under 4 months old, adopters will need to finish the DHPP vaccine series and administer the Rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age) How this dog ended up with Social Tees: Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full-grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc

Story
Meet Yukon! Yukon is a 1 year old, 23 pound mixed breed dog of unknown origin (though we suspect some Beagle and Dachshund in there). He's definitely a mystery dog with his stumpy little legs and floppy ears, but it doesn't matter because he's 100% good boy! Yukon is completely crate trained and house broken. He's still working on alerting to use the potty so there's been a few accidents but he definitely knows the potty spot is outside. Although he still has some puppy tendencies such as jumping to greet people and inappropriate chewing, he is very easily redirected and loves toys and bones to chew. He definitely has a true hound noise and follows all the good smells. Yukon's favorite activities so far have been exploring the great outdoors, playing with his foster dog friends, couch snuggles and meeting new friends. Yukon loves everyone he meets! He's a very happy dog and when he gets excited he hops with his front legs and it makes his ears flop. It's adorable! If you're looking for the cutest, playful snuggle buddy, Yukon might be the guy for you! Yukon is currently being fostered in Staten Island, NY. His adoption fee is $500. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Katelyn (AL) is a female Bassett Hound/Shepherd mix estimated to be 5 months old at the time of intake in March 2024. Katelyn is up to date on core vaccinations (age-appropriate) and is microchipped. She will be spayed prior to joining her forever home unless  there is a medical reason why it has not yet been completed (in which case RDR NYC will work with the adopter to ensure this is done at the appropriate time). Katelyn is good with people and other dogs. Katelyn was brought into rescue after her owner gave her up, and now Katelyn will go on to live a fantastic, happy life. Katelyn's unique breed mix sets her apart from other dogs. She is super cute, happy and oh so sweet! She likes to be heard and loves to rough house with her siblings. She is adorably dopey. If you can give Katelyn the happy, loving, forever home she so deserves, please apply online to adopt Katelyn (AL) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org. Her adoption fee is $575.   Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 26, 2024, 11:34 am
