Story
Meet Boots Montgomery, a puppy so special that he comes with a first and last name by default. This mellow little guy is perfectly content to sit back, observe the world around him, and quietly participate when he wants to. With his easygoing personality and thoughtful nature, Boots isn’t here for chaos, he’s here for cozy corners, calm vibes, and being your steady, soulful sidekick. If you’re looking for a sweet cuddle bug that has an “off” switch, even in puppyhood, he just might be your guy!
HISTORY
Boots’ DOB is 01/09/2026. His mom is a dachshund, and we are unsure about dad’s breed make up. Boots was born into a litter of 3, and has been in our care since they were only a week old.
Boots is fostered in Tri-Cities, in Eastern Washington. We share information about our dogs in postings based in other cities to improve their chances of finding a great forever home. He is well worth a road trip, and we encourage you to come and meet him before you decide he should join your family!
SOCIALIZATION, TEMPERAMENT AND TRAINING
Boots currently shares his home with small and large dogs and gets along beautifully with everyone. He is a pretty easy going and mellow guy that really enjoys watching his surroundings and taking it all in from a cozy and safe place.
His foster home also has children, and he has been socialized with the kids since he was just a few weeks old. As soon as momma felt comfortable allowing the kiddos to handle puppies, they were involved in the handling and care of the little family.
Boots has been exposed to a crate, but has been crated as a group with his mom and siblings. We are confident he will learn to be comfortable in one alone once he is in his forever home with some consistency and training.
Boots is just a baby, he is young and eager to learn how to be a good family dog. He’d love you to take him to school so he can learn ALL the skills he needs to be his best self. This would be beneficial for you as his pet parent(s) as well so that you can learn to communicate effectively with him and teach him to be confident.
It's important to remember: Boots is a puppy, and PUPPIES ARE HARD WORK! This little one is just getting started - he has sharp nails and needle teeth and loves to pounce on shoes and grab hold and tug on anything that moves! As far as he’s concerned, anything and everything is for play. He still has everything to learn about being a civilized member of a mainly human family. He will trip you up, piddle on your rug, and chew your stuff. Please don't apply to adopt Boots unless you're sure you have the time, energy and desire to raise him right!
HEALTH STATUS
General info
Boots is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and dewormed. He appears to be in good health. At full grown, he will likely weigh around 10-15 lbs.
HART does not support pediatric spay/neuter, so Boots has not yet been sterilized. As part of the adoption contract, you will be required to have him sterilized by 6 months of age. HART will refund $100 upon receiving proof of sterilization if requested.

HART dogs live in foster homes, not in a kennel facility. To respect our fosters’ privacy, we make our dogs available to meet adopters only after an adoption has been approved.
