Story
Please read the pet description IN IT'S ENTIRETY before applying.  Thank you for your cooperation. NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 12/3/2025:   Snorkle - male - 6 years old - 5.12 pounds - Miniature Pinscher/ Chihuahua mix Reason for intake:  So, most everyone knows I (Ninna) go to Bossier City Animal Control every Wednesday to take pictures of the dogs for the Buddies of Bossier City Animal Control Facebook page.  This particular Wednesday, there was this tiny little toot in the hallway of the shelter in a wire kennel that the staff wanted me to see.  (Just fyi... it's freezing outside so they can't use any outdoor kennels and so some dogs are in temporary wire kennels.  The staff is doing everything possible to take care of the babies at the shelter and we love them for being compassionate stewards for the animals of the city so please, NO NEGATIVE COMMENTS.)   Anyway, I ventured down the hallway and spotted a wire kennel with a balled-up blanket... but no dog.  Hmmm... wonder if he's in the blanket.  Yep, he was.  Those big eyes peered up and me and I'm like "dude... you're coming with me!"   Here's the story...  a woman comes in saying she  needs to surrender him.  He lives outside because he hikes his leg.  He's lucky a hawk or owl didn't get him!  The staff explains that one reason is because he's not neutered and there are belly bands.  The lady then says "well, we just don't want him anymore... I just have too much going on".   This may be true and people go through things so we're trying not to judge.  What is upsetting is that he is heartworm positive... so there's that.  Please try not to comment anything negative, though.  It just serves no purpose and just causes us to have to manage comments.  Please keep comments focused on him and his future which is SO BRIGHT now!  We've already sent him to our vet... for neutering and a MUCH-NEEDED dental and to start the slow-kill to deal with the heartworms.  Stay tuned! NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS:  Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed.  Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining.   In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason.  We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption.  In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered.  Please note…  we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption.  Please wait until the dog is available for adoption.  We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link:  https://www.facebook.com/share/1B46skRWF5/ OR you can keep checking our website at www.roadtorescuela.org.  We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”  ~ Gandhi Be responsible ~  Always spay/neuter, keep your dogs on heartworm prevention, vaccinate against disease... and if you bring a pet into your life, commit to that pet for life.  Blessings. Story
Florence, aka Little Momma, is a female black with tan min pin mix or something similar. She is around 9 years old and she weighs about 12 pounds. Florence is recently spayed, teeth cleaned, and vaccinated including rabies. Florence is heartworm positive and has started the slow kill treatment protocol. Florence is ready for adoption. Florence came to rescue from a shelter in the four states area. Her teeth are worn completely down in front from some unknown cause. Florence proved quickly that she is interested in being a companion to some lucky person. Florence likes men and women, leaning a little toward the fellas. She gets along with other dogs but isn’t friendly to cats. Florence is potty trained, willing to kennel, walks fine on a leash. She is looking for a lap or shotgun seat for life as a best friend. Adoption fee is $200. Must apply: Application for adoption is located at http://fs19.formsite.com/JeffTarpleyRescue/application/index.html Jeff Tarpley Rescue 903-490-2959 We require all potential adopters to submit an application.
