Story
Hi, I’m Maisie!About me:I recently came into care from a puppy mill situation, and I’m still learning that the world can be a safe and wonderful place. I’m a shy girl, but I’m already making progress! My tail is starting to wag, and I love following my foster Mom around the house.I’ll need lots of love, patience, and encouragement to build my confidence and discover all the wonderful things life has to offer. Walking on a leash and playing with toys are still new to me, but I’m taking little steps every day. With the right person by my side, I know I can continue to blossom into a wonderful companion! Things I LOVE: * Being gently petted* Dentastix * Following my foster Mom aroundThings I DON’T LOVE:* Loud noises can be scary for me!My special request: ??I’m looking for a calm, loving home with someone who understands that confidence takes time. I need a patient person who will let me blossom at my own pace, celebrate my little victories, and show me how wonderful life can be. Kennel trained: Yes, but I’ve also been allowed to roam freely in my foster home without any issues.House trained: Yes! ??Dogs: I’m okay with other dogs.Cats: Not tested, but given my shy nature, I may do well with a feline friend.Children: Not tested.Could you be the one to help my little tail wag a little bigger every day? I may be shy right now, but with love, patience, and a safe place to call home, I’m ready to start my next chapter. Could you be my happily ever after?

Hi, Barbara Streisand About me:I had a very hard start in life. I was kept in a cage with little positive human interaction or affection and forced to have puppies. My foster mama is not sure I had ever been outside before coming to IWARS. But despite everything I’ve been through, I am getting braver everyday and ever so slowly learning that people are kind and loving. Things I LOVE: Going for walks in my sling ( I don’t love the cold though). I’m tooscared to walk on a leash and would be a flight risk if I got away. I like the kennel, but also like to curl up under something (like the couch). It makes me feel safe. I also love Wet food and freeze dried treats! I learning all about toys. Things I DON’T LOVE:Being chased, Busy, high-traffic environments and Fast movements — they can be scary for me. I’m also very frightened by loud and unfamiliar sounds. My special request: I’m looking for a quiet, low-traffic home with patient, gentle and loving people who understand that I’ve had a rough start and will need time to continue learning that life is safe. I will likely never be an extrovert dog and may never like to venture too far away from my safe places. My foster has noticed I do love the other pets in the house and like to hang out with them. I would love a friendly doggy pal or someone who is home a lot!Kennel trained: YES! My kennel (or somewhere quiet) is my safe space.House trained: Not quite. I use pee pads and haven’t had an accident in weeks!Dogs: Yes!Cats: Yes! Children: No — too much energy for me!I may have spent my first years of my life simply surviving. Now, I’m ready to spend my next chapter feeling safe, loved and spoiled. Please consider me as your next family member

Story
Hi, I’m SundaeAbout me: Although I had a rough start to life I am learning to brave this big new world. Every experience is new for me and I am extremely nervous to start.I am a sweet, cuddly girl who sleeps most of the day and I love to be near my people. I enjoy being carried around and I am even feeling braver when my foster mom takes me for a walk in a sling. I do not like walking on a leash as being outdoors is quite overwhelming. Because of this fear, I would be considered a flight risk. However, with practice and continued exposure, I just may learn to enjoy it. Although I was scared at first, I am now much more comfortable with my foster brother. He is a big dog but gives me lots of space. I would do just fine with another furry friend in the house, as long as they are calm and will let me take my time getting used to them. Likes: Cuddling, napping, being close to my people, wet food Dislikes: loud noises, busy high traffic environments, walking on a leash, dry kibble Special Requests: I am looking for a quiet home with a calm environment. Someone who is home a lot would be ideal as I don’t like being left alone for long periods of time. I will need a family who will be patient and understanding as I may take time to feel safe in this life. Kennel Trained: Yes, my kennel is my safe space House Trained: Working on pee pad training Dogs: yes, if calmCats: untested but probablyChildren: if quiet and calm (so probably older children)

Story
Hello! My name is Guanita and I’m looking for my forever home! I had a very rough start in life and I’m looking for a loving family to help me come out of my shell.Guanita doesn’t really know how to “dog” because she was never given the opportunity to before. She has adapted well to indoor life and made amazing progress since coming into IWARS care. She is extremely nervous around people but has been very brave in her foster home. She follows her humans around the house and will get very excited to see them, but will still run away if they approach her. She craves love and warmth but doesn’t know how to ask for it just yet. She loves having a cuddle on the couch once she gets to know you. She is a prolific napper, and often snores so hard she wakes herself up. She likes her foster dog siblings and would benefit from a calm, well socialized dog sibling to help show her that humans can be safe and loving. It will take a lot of love and patience to show her that the world is not a scary place. Guanita has such a sweet nature despite her upbringing, and will blossom in the right home.Likes: liver treats, naps, couch timeDislikes: loud noises, Kennel trained: my kennel is my safe space!House trained: I am mostly puppy pad trainedDogs: calm dogs only please! Cats: if they will cuddle me!Children: older children only
