Hi!  My name is KoKo and I’m so excited to meet you.  I am a 12.5 pound miniature poodle.  My foster momma says I’m one of the smartest dogs she’s ever met, but I need to work on my manners.  I don’t have a clue what she’s talking about.  Isn’t growling a proper way to let someone know you like them and want to meet them?  Back at the end of July my whole world got turned upside down.  My beloved mom and dad of 2 years could no longer care for me.  Let me tell you something, they loved me so much and according to my foster mom spoiled me a little too much because she says I have some naughty behaviors.  Back to that terrible day.  I was so scared and confused I lashed out to the shelter staff by growling and trying to bite them.  I truly meant no harm.  I was just scared and had learned if I growl and snap things I don’t like happening stop.  Thankfully the shelter director knew of foster mom and knew she would take a chance on me and take me home to foster.  The day she picked me up was one of the best days of my life.  While I’m still living with other dogs and cats her home is quiet and the best part is she lets me sleep in the bed with her, one of my most favorite activities.  I was on my best behavior for about a week, before I let the first growl slip.  I truly meant no harm.  I was just tired and didn’t want to be moved over on the bed.  My new momma told me that was unacceptable behavior and we had to practice being moved without biting.  My foster momma took me to meet with a dog trainer and we have lots of things we are working on.  According to the trainer I’m a pushy dog who lacks confidence and have learner growling gets me my way.  I disagree, but whatever.  We still apparently have to work on my growling.  If you’ve got an empty lap, patience, and a willingness to continue on with my training fill out an application to me you.     KoKo is house trained and crate trained, but can be reactive in his crate.  He gets along great with both cats and dogs and would like flourish in a home with a dog his size to play with.  He enjoys walking on a leash and napping the day away on the couch.  Because he does growl and snap he needs a home with kids over the age of 12.  One of the conditions of his adoption is going to be, being willing to enroll him in training classes with a dog trainer so his forever family can continue working with him on his growling.  He will also require daily brushing and grooming visits every 6-8 weeks to keep his hair from matting.                                               Estimated DOB:   08/12/2024 Adoption fee: $350 (6% KY sales tax included)  We would love to hear from you! Story
🏴‍☠️🐾 MEET CAPTAIN RUSTY NAILS! 🐾🏴‍☠️ Ahoy, mateys! We’d like to introduce the newest little pirate to sail into FairyTails — Captain Rusty Nails! ⚓️❤️ Rusty is a 9-pound Miniature Poodle, born March 19th, and he came to us with a deformity of his front right leg. We’ve already been talking about whether this tiny captain might benefit from a little prosthetic, a specially fitted shoe, or another option to help him get around as comfortably as possible. He came in today, received his boosters, and of course had himself a proper FairyTails Spaw Day so he could start his new chapter looking handsome and feeling fresh. 🫧✂️ He’ll be settling into his foster home while we learn more about him, and he has a vet appointment Friday. So far, Captain Rusty Nails seems to be an incredibly sweet, gentle little boy, and yes — he is already accepting adoption applications- please email ftadopt@gmail.com! 🥹❤️ Sometimes the best treasures arrive with a few dents in the chest. This little pirate may have a different kind of leg, but we have a feeling he’s going to sail right into somebody’s heart. 🏴‍☠️⚓️🐩 Applications are open for Captain Rusty Nails!

Story
We're trying to find the perfect home for Dutton, where he will be safe and understood. Hello 🐾 I'm Dutton; I am a mini poodle, around 3 years old, under 15lbs. I am the absolute sweetest boy and cling to my people. I am good with dogs and kids. I am 98% potty trained. I am a very skittish boy who came from puppy mills and need time to warm up. I am very nervous around men. I would prefer kids above 8 who are respectful. I am crate trained but love to snuggle in bed at night. My home must have a privacy fence. I can get out of fences, and until I am comfortable, I should be leash walked even in the fenced area. I do great in the car but am scared in public. Dutton can NOT be adopted out of state. KY/IN All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention, and microchipped. Dentals are also done if necessary. Please do not email us; instead, apply via our website at www.proudpupsrescue.com

Story
Meet Freya! 🐾💕 At a dainty 17 pounds, sweet little Freya is a resilient girl looking for a loving home to help her continue shining. Though she started out shut down and timid, watching her true, playful personality bloom has been nothing short of magical. Give her some time and patience to feel safe, and she’ll be sitting right beside you, ready for love! Freya is a social butterfly with other dogs! She loves making friends of all sizes—from 5 lbs to 140 lbs—and gets genuinely excited to play. Having a confident canine brother or sister in her home would be a huge bonus to help build her confidence. Once she gets happy, her enthusiasm shines! She takes a minute to settle her excitable jumps when greetings start, but her sweet energy is infectious. She loves a good game of fetch and will happily retrieve the ball for you. We don't know Freya's exact history, but we know she had a rough start. She can be timid and skittish around people at first, backing away until she feels safe. With patient, gentle handling, she warms up and lets you hold her. She doesn't seem to know standard commands yet, so she is a clean slate waiting for positive-only reinforcement training. Freya is a potty training champion! So far, she has zero accidents in the house or in her crate! She walks nicely on a leash and is ready to explore the world with you. She does well in her crate and could use some space that's just for her in her new home - a place to feel safe and unbothered while she settles in. Freya is a resilient, affectionate little gem who just needs a patient heart and a cozy lap. Will you be her safe place?

Story
I figured now was a good time to give Holly her own adoption post! If you are looking for a little lap dog, Holly is not the girl for you! 😅 This girl has energy! Holly loves to play play play! She loves a squeaky toy, a ball, or your missing sock. She is extremely food motivated and catches on quickly with the use of training treats. A home that is interested in trick training, agility, or other dogs sports would probably be an amazing fit for her. Holly goes easily into her crate with the use of a treat and is used to eating her meals in there. She will do almost anything for a treat! She will still have the occasional pee accident in her crate if crated for more than a few hours. She sleeps through the night in her crate with no issues. I usually let her out early to potty and then let her get into bed with me until I get up for work. We are working on perfecting her potty training and she is doing well, but with all puppies you can’t expect perfection and she will need continued training in her new home. Holly is fostered with other dogs and cats. She gets along with everyone but does like to chase the cats and give the other dogs more affection than they care for sometimes. She plays well with my 2 year old Chihuahua with a similar energy level. She prefers women and will require a slower introduction to men and children ( over 12 please). Once she is comfortable with you she will want to follow your every move and lick your face off! Her tail is always going a mile a minute and she loves attention. Her perfect home would be able to give her that one on one time she craves and allow a positive outlet for all her energy! Holly is a smart little girl and I know with more time and training she will blossom. $300 adoption fee 6 mo old Spayed , UTD on vaccines and prevention, HW Neg, microchipped https://www.blackcatanimalrescue.org/adoption-applications
