I came to Big Dog Ranch as a breeder release after spending my whole life in heartbreaking conditions, used over and over for puppies and rarely touched with kindness. I don’t know what it feels like to be part of a family, and I’ve never even had a leash clipped onto me. The world outside my cage is completely new and sometimes scary. It may take me months to understand that hands can be gentle and homes can be safe, but deep down I’m hoping someone will give me the patience and love I’ve never had. With the right person, I know I can finally learn what it means to be more than a number… to be loved.

Story
This plucky little guy will get you with his puppy dog eyes. We believe he is a mix of mini Schnauzer and Westie. At about 10 months old, he weighs 18 pounds and should max out at 20 pounds. Mendy loves all humans and doesn't believe in personal space, however he does not seem to be fond of other dogs (though he does make the occasional friend).  Mendy is already neutered and up to date on vaccinations and heartworm testing.  He loves to fetch, hoard squeaky toys, and attempt to fly by jumping off the back of the couch.  He ADORES children. Mendy has had surgery to fix a congenital condition (Legg-Calves-Perthes Disease) causing pain in his rear leg and making it difficult for him to walk (which is perhaps why he was trying to fly). He is now doing physical therapy and is doing great.  Other than a small occasional limp, you would never know that there was ever an issue.  He loves to run and would like a family that will be active with him.  Mostly housebroken, but not perfect yet.
