I'm Sweetheart and I'm ready to write my love story with you. I'm passionate, tender, affectionate, flirtatious and, did I mention, I'm super cute and fluffy. I'm a mini-schnauzer and, just the right age to be your new romantic partner in life.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2558936##

Meet Paul, A Gentle Soul Ready for His Fresh Start Paul was born on 03/06/2019 and came to us as a breeder release. While his past may not have included the comfort of a true family home, his future is full of possibility. Paul is a shy, tender-hearted boy who is still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. He may take a little time to open up, but underneath that timid exterior is a sweet dog who wants nothing more than to feel secure, cherished, and truly loved. He’s not asking for much, just a quiet home, a patient heart, and someone who will show him what it means to belong. The kind of home where he can curl up without worry, where gentle voices replace uncertainty, and where love is something he experiences every single day. Paul deserves to know what a real forever home feels like. If you have room in your heart for a shy boy ready to blossom, he would love the chance to meet you! Their adoption fee is $800, plus an additional $50 that includes six months of heartworm prevention. Pebbles is a sweet and loving 9-year-old girl who simply wants someone to love her. She rides well in the car and enjoys being with her people. On leash, Pebbles can pull and may cough when she does, so she must be walked using a harness for her comfort and safety. She will need a securely fenced yard. Pebbles likes to bark when the other dogs bark, but she doesn’t always know when to stop, so apartment living would not be a good fit for her. She is doing great with pottying outside. While she hasn’t shown much interest in toys, she recently discovered Nyla bones and absolutely loves chewing on them. Pebbles isn’t a fan of cold weather and may hesitate to go outside to potty, but with a little encouragement, she will happily follow you out. Pebbles would do well as an only dog or with another dog in the home. She’s a gentle, affectionate companion ready to spend her golden years in a loving forever home. Pebbles is spayed, had a dental, up to date on all vaccines, had a heart worm test, on heartworm preventative, de-wormed, and microchipped. Pebble’s adoption fee is $300.00.
