Story
Hi! My name is Bennie, and I’m a mini schnauzer-chihuahua mix. My sister, Shelby, and I were the last two pups in our litter, and for a while, it seemed like no one wanted us. Our mom was found running down a country road until a kind lady picked her up and knocked on doors until she found our home. Our human mom felt overwhelmed and was relieved to let this kind lady take us in. We were so grateful! She promised to take care of our mom and gave us a chance at a better life. At first, we were sad, but as soon as we saw our foster home, our spirits lifted. We knew things were looking up when we learned Critter Cavalry would care for us and help us find loving forever homes.   I’m the mischievous one—the clown of the bunch. I’ve made it my mission to make you smile, even when I’m being a little naughty (don’t worry, it’s not too often). With me around, laughter is guaranteed! I love to play and can be a bit vocal when I want your attention, but I also adore snuggling and can be incredibly sweet. I think I’m a wonderful little guy, and I’ll do my best to make sure you agree.   My sister Shelby is the love bug. She’d much rather be snuggling with you than playing with me! We do play together, but when she gets tired, she’s quick to find someone to cuddle. We don’t have to be adopted together, but if you’re looking for the perfect yin and yang, the two of us are just what you need.   To learn more about Bennie and/or Shelby as well as the adoption process please email Vivienne at vivienneajames@gamil.com or text 615-943-7311.  The pups are currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.  It will be a few weeks before their vetting is completed.    August 22, 2026, 5:42 pm

Story
Meet Abby! Abby is a 12-year-old Miniature Schnauzer looking for a new beginning after losing the only family she has ever known. Sadly, her owners passed away, and through no fault of her own, Abby is now searching for a loving home to spend her golden years. Abby is spayed, weighs 25lbs, is up to date on her vaccinations, and gets along well with other dogs. Don't let her age fool you though. She still has plenty of spunk, enjoys being with her people, and is ready to make new memories with a family who will love her as much as she deserves. As with all dogs, Abby will need time to adjust to a new home and its expectations. Her future family should understand that pet ownership is a lifelong commitment—one that requires daily exercise, continued training, and socialization. Remember: a good dog is a tired dog! If you're interested in adopting Abby, please DO NOT CALL us. Instead, complete an online application at https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/21800/generic. We verify the care of current and past pets. Our primary goal is to find the best homes for our dogs and cats, and we reserve the right to approve or deny applications based on what’s in the pet’s best interest. #LoveDogsForever #MixedBreed #Schnauzers #RescuedIsTheBestBreed #Dogs #Seniordogs #RescueDog #LoveDogs #Adopt #AdoptDontShop

Story
For inquiries email joanie@compactcaninerescue.org Fee: $600 Location: Norfolk, VA UPDATE from foster mom 7/21/26: Olivia has truly blossomed into a great pet in less than 3 weeks! Shes learned to cuddle and give gentle nuzzles. Shes learned how to go up and down fairly steep staircases with great athleticism. Shes learned to walk and do her waste business on a leash. Shes not afraid of loud noises like fireworks, thunder, or the carpet cleaner (which shes heard a LOT this past week because of a tummy bug)! Shes great with other dogs of all sizes. Although shes initially very timid with new humans, she warms up very quickly to those who show her gentle affection, and especially to those who give her treats! She now walks well on a leash, but sometimes her battery runs down and she refuses to walk more. Dont worry, shes powered by pets. Stroke her head or back or sides and she recharges and will walk when called! Olivia is truly a joy and would love to be an awesome companion to her perfect human(s)! Olivia is a sweet little miniature schnauzer. She is 4 years old and weighs about 20 pounds. She, like the other female schnauzers we received, has lived her whole life making baby schnauzers! She was surrendered to the rescue now that her baby making days are over. She is definitely confused. She has never been a pet before but she is definitely enjoying the experience. She is working on her potty manners and her leash skills. She will be spayed and have a dental on July 7th then be ready for adoption. Don't miss out on this sweet little lady! She will definitely add some sparkle to your day! For the most up to date photos and information follow us on our social media channels. Story
For inquiries email kaitlin@compactcaninerescue.org Fee: $600 Location: Richmond, VA UPDATE from foster coordinator 8/8/2026: Tanya Tucker stayed with our foster coordinator while her foster family went on vacation for a week. Tanya, affectionally known as TT by our foster coordinator, came right into the pack and after 24 hours she was integrated and happy. Tanya followed the resident dogs around the house as well as foster mom. She was very sweet, walked well on leash when with another dog and enjoyed the company of the resident dogs. She even curled up with the resident schnauzer, former CCR Alum, Henry (see photo in her online pictures). After keeping her for the past 7 days, we have determined (her foster mom and the coordinator) she will need another dog. She is still very skittish and looks to other dogs for confidence and affirmation. She is learning how to "dog" and really making great strides. Tanya went back to her foster mom today (8/8) and was very happy to see the resident foster siblings. She definitely likes to be around other dogs. It is all she has ever known. Tanya does not bark much but will bark at people who approach the home or on a walk. She quickly warms up but does shake some with unfamiliar people until she is comfortable with them. Tanya was groomed while she was with our coordinator this week. The grooming salon is a quiet, one-on-one salon. The groomer did express to our coordinator that Tanya was terrified during her grooming session. She has most likely not been to a grooming salon in the past. Her new owners may want to consult their vet about some meds to help with stressful situations like vetting and grooming at least for the first few sessions until she gets acclimated to her home. Training classes may help build her confidence in the future with her new owners. Tanya Tucker is a delightful and will make a wonder new pack member!     UPDATE from foster mom 7/21/2026: Tanya is a sweet little miniature schnauzer. She has been a breeding female for her entire life. She was surrendered to our rescue after she was no longer used for making new little schnauzers! She is 6 years old which is the average age of "retirement" in the breeding world. She weighs about 20 pounds. Tanya is shy but quickly warming up to her foster family. She was spayed on July 7th and is bravely exploring an all-new outdoor world as she learns to walk on a leash. Shes not too sure about cats but loves learning from her canine siblings. Tanya will benefit from a quiet home with other dogs she can model as she learns to be a confident girl. Don't miss out on this love bug! She is very affectionate and will make a loving companion.   Tanya is a sweet little miniature schnauzer. She has been a breeding female for her entire life. I love to play with my brother, but as soon as I start to feel tired, I’m off to find a person to curl up with. Don’t get me wrong—I still crave lots of attention and have plenty of silly antics while playing! I’ll bring a smile to your face because I’m so sweet, you’ll just want to squeeze me.   My brother Bennie is the mischievous one—the clown of the bunch.
