Story
I need help rehoming my dog and want to make sure he goes to a safe, loving environment. He is a 9-year-old Yorkie/Pomeranian mix and is up to date on vaccinations. He has experienced abuse in the past, so he can be fearful and shy when first meeting new people. However, once he feels safe, he becomes very affectionate, loyal, and deeply attached to his person. He is partially potty trained and does best in a calm, quiet home with someone patient and understanding. He is not aggressive—just needs time and consistency to build trust. Due to his personality, I believe he would do best in a low-stress home, possibly without small children, and with someone who has experience or patience with shy or rescue dogs. I am trying to avoid surrendering him to a high-risk shelter and would prefer a no-kill or foster-based rescue that understands dogs with this type of background.
