Story
Teddy is… a lot. Although he’s technically 3 years old, Teddy missed that memo and lives life like a full-throttle puppy. He’s a Shorkie (Yorkie–Shih Tzu mix) weighing a healthy 16 pounds of enthusiasm, curiosity, and chaos. He’s playful with toys, playful with dogs, playful with air, and deeply committed to yard adventures. Teddy absolutely requires a securely fenced yard, because if given the chance, he would consider a solo expedition into the unknown and never look back. He is, without question, a handful. But he’s a very sweet handful. When he powers down (we promise he does), Teddy delivers top-tier snuggles that make you forget he just driving you up a wall minutes earlier. His former owner sadly passed away and likely wasn’t able to give Teddy the structure or outlets he needed, so he’s learning those things now in foster care. Training is a work in progress. Teddy is not especially interested in being a student, but we are committed, patient, and armed with treats. Teddy is not house trained yet and currently wears a male wrap to manage his enthusiasm for marking. We do expect this to be resolved with consistency, structure, and time. And patience. Lots and lots of patience. Teddy will thrive with a very patient active family who genuinely enjoys training, engagement, and staying busy. He also requires another very playful, similarly energetic canine companion to help burn off steam. Because of his age, energy level, and vocal personality, Teddy is not a good fit for older seniors or homes with shared walls. Teddy does not shed but does require professional grooming every 6 to 8 weeks. If you have a groomer referral, please include it with your application. Adoption Fee: $450.
