Story
Hi. I am Milly. I am a one year old Catahoula mix girl, and not too long ago the world felt very big and very scary to me. When I first came to the shelter, I was shut down and unsure about everything. Then I landed in a foster home that gave me exactly what I needed. Time. Patience. And the freedom to move at my own pace. No one forced me to interact or be brave before I was ready, and because of that, I bloomed. I warmed up quickly to my foster mom. Foster dad is taking a little more time, but I have made tremendous progress and keep surprising everyone with how far I have come. Having a confident foster dog sister has been a total game changer for me. I adore her. I snuggle up close, squeeze myself into her dog bed, and politely share snacks. I would really love a home with another confident, playful dog to help me continue learning that the world is a pretty great place. These days I am an enthusiastic ball dog. Throw it. Throw it again. And again. A fenced yard and a ChuckIt would be a dream come true for me. I am still learning how to walk on a leash and how to feel safe outside the comfort of my fenced yard, so patience and understanding will be important as I keep building confidence. Because I can still get nervous in new or scary situations, I have been wearing a GPS tracker in my foster home and will need a family who understands that I can be a flight risk when scared. Slow introductions, secure spaces, and people who understand shy dogs like me are important. I am fully house trained and have not had a single potty accident in my foster home. I sit by the door when I need to go out. At night, I sleep quietly through the night, either in my crate or in your bed if you are willing to share. My dream home is a quiet one with someone who is home a lot, has another dog for me to love, and does not mind sharing popcorn during movie nights. I am still becoming the best version of myself, but if you are patient and kind, I promise I will keep blossoming right by your side. Love, Milly
