Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Cinnabon Australian Shepherd / Mountain Cur Mix | ~8 weeks old This beautiful brindle girl is a confident, playful, and affectionate puppy with a soft, slightly fluffy coat and expressive eyes. She’s curious about the world, eager to engage, and loves both people and other dogs. She adapts quickly to new environments and takes changes in stride — a great sign of emotional resilience. She plays enthusiastically, then settles well, showing a natural balance that makes her a joy to be around. We believe she is an Australian Shepherd / Mountain Cur mix, a combination that often produces loyal, intelligent dogs who form strong bonds with their families. She’s already showing those qualities — friendly, observant, and very people-oriented. This girl will thrive in a home that enjoys companionship, playtime, and connection. In return, she’ll grow into a loving, devoted family dog who wants to be included in daily life. If she sounds like the puppy you’ve been waiting for, please reach out and tell us a little about yourself. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Churro  Australian Shepherd / Mountain Cur Mix | ~9 weeks old This handsome little guy is a happy, confident, and people-loving puppy with a sweet, easygoing nature. He’s playful and curious like any healthy pup, but he’s not over-the-top or chaotic — he has a really nice balance for his age. He adapts well to new situations, enjoys being around people, and does beautifully with other dogs. He’s being raised in a social environment and is learning excellent dog manners early on. After playtime, he’s content to settle in and relax — a wonderful trait that often carries into adulthood. We believe he is an Australian Shepherd / Mountain Cur mix, a pairing known for intelligence, loyalty, and strong bonds with their people. He’s the kind of puppy who wants to be part of whatever you’re doing and will grow into a devoted, steady companion. This boy would be a great fit for someone looking for a smart, affectionate pup who enjoys interaction but also knows how to relax. If he’s caught your eye, we’d love to hear about your home and lifestyle. Thank you for checking out our wonderful orphans. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Brody, a handsome little gentleman This sweet boy is around 10–11 weeks old and is blossoming more each day. When he first arrived, he was understandably frightened — but with the help of a calm, confident dog friend, he’s come beautifully out of his shell. What we’re seeing now is a gentle, thoughtful, and very kind puppy. We believe he may be a Mountain Cur / Catahoula mix — a combination known for intelligence, loyalty, and strong bonds with their people. These are dogs bred to be partners: steady, observant, and deeply connected to those they trust. Despite his unsure start, this little guy has shown a truly lovely temperament. He is exceptionally gentle, especially with two younger puppies he’s currently staying with. He reads other dogs well, adjusts his energy, and shows a natural kindness that you don’t see in every puppy. He’s not a loud or pushy pup — he’s more of a quiet observer, the kind who watches first, then leans in once he feels safe. With a little patience and continued positive experiences, he’s going to grow into a wonderful companion: loyal, emotionally steady, and devoted to his person. This boy will do best with someone who appreciates a dog with a mind and a heart — someone who understands that confidence grows through trust, not force. In return, they’ll get a dog who bonds deeply and gives that loyalty back tenfold. If his picture caught your attention, we’d love for you to reach out and learn more about him. Sometimes the very best dogs are the ones who just need someone to look past first impressions and see the soul underneath. Thank you for checking out our wonderful orphans. Story
Meet Izzy, a lovable goofball with a heart as big as his energy levels. This friendly, adult dog is always ready for playtime, his tail wagging with excitement at the prospect of a game of fetch or a long walk. Izzy's energy is infectious, and he has a knack for turning even the gloomiest of days into a joyous occasion. But Izzy's not all fun and games. He's also incredibly loyal and would do anything for those he loves. Not even a fence could separate Izzy from his people...and we mean literally. He has escaped his yard a few times making sure his people were nearby. His goofy antics are sure to bring a smile to your face and his unwavering loyalty will make you feel loved and cherished. Adopt Izzy and let his infectious energy and undying loyalty turn your house into a home.

Story
*Due to state laws regarding out of state adoptions, we cannot adopt to families in Massachusetts or Rhode Island.* Penelope is a precious 14 week old mixed breed pup ready for her forever home. Listed breed is an educated guess made by our veterinarian and is NOT a guarantee - this also means we have no way of knowing what a puppy's adult size will be. This dog is currently being fostered in Mississippi and will be transported via Barton's Barkers transport services upon adoption. Their adoption fee is $500 and includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, a nose to tail vet check, microchip and transport costs. Second Chances lists dogs as being available in White River Junction, VT because we transport our dogs to the area every 3rd week after they have been adopted. All of our local shelters have a high euthanasia rate due to overpopulation so we created our rescue group to primarily adopt to the northern states to help keep as many dogs as we can from entering our kill shelters.   ##2101170##
