HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org ---- Sweet, friendly lounger who loves head scratches, pets and adores attention - Loves his people, but also loves his solitude; likes finding quiet napping spots - LOVES to talk and tell you all about his very important cat life - Prefers to eat only dry cat food - He will be your shadow and will happily hang out with you all day long - Has lived with kids, dogs and cats and did well with them, but prefers an environment that's on the quiet side - This cat is a Munchkin breed, and since he has short legs, he may do best with a low-sided litter pan or a litterbox with higher sides and a lower entrance that he can easily walk into - May have feline idiopathic cystitis, a condition that can appear in times of stress (more info at ARL) This pet is considered to be in their senior years and may enjoy calmer activities and environments. Story
Cork came to us as an owner surrender due to inappropriate litter box behavior. She consistently uses the box for peeing but does have accidents of poop outside of the box sometimes. We are working her up medically to make sure she is not painful or has any underlying conditions that would make her want to do this and then will start her on behavior medications if that's the route our vet would like to take. Cork is a VERY sweet cat though and has lived with other dogs and cats.

Izzy is 1/4 Russian blue, 1/4 muchkin, 1/2 stray mix. She has the muchkin stature, and Russian blue personality and fur texture. She is almost all black, with a white patch on her tummy. I have young kids, and our home is too chaotic for her. I hate to see her go, but its what's best for her. She is generally a chill roommate who likes her scheduled pets, and loves Lazer pointers and feathers.
