Story
🐾 JERI MOO is a recent owner surrender whose owner could not keep her and the other dog in the home when they went through a divorce and had to move. She has been in her foster now for over a month (was initially supposed to be temporary and not surrendering) and is reportedly a super sweet little girl. We have her on the schedule to get all her vetting done, which is included in her adoption fee, and our best guess is that she is a very mixy mix. She's only a year old and about 25 lbs, and she might have some Jack Russell Terrier in her, but probably lots of other breed mixes, as well. Your guess is as good as ours. She is deaf, but that doesn't affect her life too much besides she takes a few minutes to really check someone out before she's comfortable, but then it's all good. Her foster is also careful to not startle her when she's sleeping. Letting deaf dogs feel the vibrations of your footsteps as you approach is always a good strategy with deaf dogs. For this reason, we think she should also go to a home with a fenced in yard, since you can't call her if she does happen to escape. She's good on walks, and is very playful with the other dogs in the home - she's not a super snuggler, at least yet, but she's definitely seeking out more and more attention from her foster as the weeks go by. This little bundle of love will make someone a great addition to their home. Also - she has always lived with other dogs and they give her confidence as well as playmates - we think she should likely go to a home with at least one other dog, as well. 👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. Adoption also includes lifetime support of the rescue. 💜 Please click PURPLE BUTTON above to apply or go to www.secondhanddogrescue.com/apply and be sure to choose their name from the dropdown to expedite your application!! ✍ APPLICATION PROCESSING: We do most application processing virtually and dog meets will be individually by appointment with ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS. We are not a shelter and are completely volunteer foster-based, so there is no central place to come see all of the dogs available. 📌 IMPORTANT NOTES: ** Housetraining with rescues is sometimes a work in progress and even if a dog is 100% in a foster's home, it should be expected there will be an adjustment period as a dog adapts to a new environment. This is even more true if the dog has not by chance had their altering appointment at time of adoption. ** Also, we highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. --> Lastly, breed guesses in rescue are just that (GUESSES!!) 99.9% of the time. We do not do DNA testing and our breed guesses are based on appearance and sometimes other traits, but we know the dog breed guessing game is a fool's errand even for those with LOTS of experience. 🗺 ADOPTION AREA: several hour radius of Rochester, NY (Canada within 3 hours IS allowed, except that young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination to cross the border - usually around 16 weeks)
