Story
Current Location: Bristow, VA Meet Emma – Your Built-In Best Friend 🐾 If you’re looking for a loyal companion with the perfect balance of cuddle and play, Emma is your girl. This sweet 2-year-old Brittany Spaniel weighs just under 30 pounds but has a heart big enough for the whole family. Emma is the definition of a snuggle bug—she absolutely loves being near her people, whether that’s curling up on the couch or quietly resting at your feet during movie night. She’s affectionate without being needy and settles in beautifully, even when left alone. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and has a playful, friendly spirit while still being respectful of their space. (In fact, she made herself right at home and fell asleep with her foster siblings on night one—no drama, just vibes.) Cats? She’s curious but polite, happy to coexist without causing a fuss. Kids? Instant best friends. She’s gentle, calm, and content just being near them. Emma does have a bit of energy, so she’d thrive in a home with a yard or an active family who can give her space to stretch her legs and explore. When the day winds down, though, she’s all about the cuddles. She’s mostly house-trained (just a little first-night adjustment) and fully crate-trained. She’s learning her new name, Emma, but also responds to “Lady.” Emma is the total package—sweet, adaptable, affectionate, and ready to be someone’s forever companion. If you’re looking for a dog who will fit right into your home and heart, Emma is waiting to meet you. This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH’s heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable.
