Story
Meet Horace, affectionately known as Big Hoss! Are you ready to welcome a gentle giant into your life? Look no further than Horace, the lovable Great Dane mix with a heart as big as his goofy personality! At just 1 year old, Horace is a bundle of energy and enthusiasm, always eager to be in the thick of the action. He's a true people pleaser, following his humans around like a shadow and melting at their feet when showered with affection. Horace is a social butterfly who gets along famously with dogs and people alike. However, as he's still learning his manners, especially given his size, consistent training is key. But don't worry, his willingness to please shines through, and with patience and guidance, he'll be a well-mannered companion in no time. His favorite pastimes include romping in the backyard, engaging in playful antics with other dogs, and keeping a watchful eye on his humans as they go about their day. He's also a fan of chewing on his toys, so be sure to have plenty on hand to keep him entertained! Horace is house trained and does his business promptly outside, although he's still learning to communicate when he needs to go out. He walks well on a leash most of the time, but due to his size, his fosters use a gentle leader to ensure he stays under control. He may get excited and pull suddenly if provoked, so a patient and understanding approach to leash training is necessary. This loving goofball knows basic commands like sit and comes when called (most of the time), but he can be a bit stubborn during training sessions. With consistent guidance and positive reinforcement, he'll thrive in a loving home environment. While Horace has been gentle with the children he's met, his size may not be suitable for a home with small children. He's currently around 75 pounds and may continue to grow, as his paws and head are still quite large for his body. If you're ready to welcome a playful and affectionate companion into your life, Horace could be the perfect match for you! Come meet this charming pup today and discover the joy and laughter he brings to every moment. Adopt Horace, and get ready for a lifetime of love, cuddles, and unforgettable memories! All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petcademy's team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle your new family member into your home. You can text unlimited questions to Petcademy and they'll respond within 24 hours (Monday-Friday).

Story
Coal is true to his name in being only at the first step towards becoming a shining diamond. In his case it is guidance and encouragement, not pressure, that will get him there. He is friendly and sociable though worried about strangers at first. He is loyal and listens to his humans. Coal has the makings of a great companion! He is a little shy at first and will bark but warms up quickly. Then he is always by your side. Even though Coal looks like a lab in pics, I assure you the Dane is obvious; seeing him in person changes everything. Coal is just a big baby at around 1 years old as of the beginning of April. He was found dumped at Utah-Az boarder. It took animal control 3 weeks to trap him. He doesn’t quite understand his own size as is so often the case with this breed, especially while young, and though friendly to other dogs can overwhelm all but the most hardy. Providing regular sessions of vigorous exercise can really help keep him calmer around the house and when socializing. Teaching Coal to not jump will help a lot. He is still puppy just a big one at that. Hehe. Coal has been great with kids though again he may overwhelm the littler ones. He is good with some cats but doesn't understand his size.
