Story
Hugo is a lovable St. Bernard dog (born 2018) who gets along very well with people of all ages, including strangers and kids.  He is leash trained and does not pull while on the leash.   He's a very calm and chill dog.  He enjoys frequent naps and knows the command to sit.  The perfect home for Hugo would be one without cats (they think he's pretty scary when he chases them) and with people who loves big dogs because Hugo is 130 lbs.   Personal Note from Hugo: Hi!  This is Hugo and I just wanted to add something here.  My dream home would be with a person or family who has a BIG heart for BIG dogs.  I would love to be with someone who is active and will take me on regular walks.  I need plenty of love, attention and maybe a few extra ice cubes now and then - one of my faves!  Paws & Kisses, Hugo The suggested adoption donation for Hugo is $350, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.   Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.   Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.   To learn about Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##2612723##

Story
Maple is a beautiful female Dane mix (b. Feb 2024) who would love to become part of your family.  It takes her just a little time to trust new people, but she's gained massive amounts of confidence in the time she lived with her foster parents and fur siblings!  She would do best as the only dog in the home.  Maple does well with cats, even if she doesn't entirely understand them. She's potty trained and does well in a kennel overnight, as long as she has enough blankets inside. However, once she gets older, I think this girl would much rather cuddle up in bed with her people. :) Meet Maple Bacon Croissant. This girl is ready to find her forever home! Here are a few things about her… Likes: Soft, comfy things. Beds, blankets, pillows, other furry siblings. You name it, she'll lay on it. Food. Maple will do anything for a biscuit. TOYS. Especially if she can play tug of war with her Golden foster brother, even better. (Dish towels work in a pinch, too!) Dislikes: Swishy pants. They make WAY too much noise. (Maple would also like to point out that this is 2024, not 1980.) :P Slow feeders. How dare her humans make her eat slower! But it's a necessary evil. Gravity. Her foster mom has lost count of times she's rolled straight off the bed or couch! She might be okay with older kids (age 10+) due to her size and energy level at times.  She has done fine with a 4' or 6' fence.  She's also been okay when left out of the crate during the day, no accidents and hasn't chewed anything.   Maple may need to be an only pup - she can be dog selective when it comes to her playmates, so any adopter with a resident dog would likely need several meet and greets to make sure it’s the perfect fit for everyone. We want to find a home with people that will shower her with love and attention. Please give this give cuddle bug a forever home, she deserves the world. The suggested adoption donation for Maple is $475, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).
