Story
Hello! My Name is Buster, here is some information about me: Breed: Newfoundland / Chow Chow  Age: 4 years and 11 months old Gender: Male Weight: 70-75lbs  Height: Not specified I came to the pound with horrible injuries to my back end one day, they suspect a car accident. Given the poor state of my legs, I was unable to walk for a few days. I was given proper treatment and my legs are completely healed! I am strong spirited and I’m happy to put that experience in the past! Now that I am healed I’m looking for my forever home that will give me the love and attention I crave.  I am goofy and smart, that’s the Newfie in me! I can be independent but I also love my people! It may take me a bit to warm up to you, but once I know you, I will love you and make a great companion.  I love people and I’m good with other dogs too! (Videos for proof will be added shortly!). I can be a bit nervous with people in my face, therefore, if I am in a home with children I will thrive best if they are older and I will be best in a home that can provide me with an active lifestyle. Energy Level: Moderate - High I get along with: Dogs: Yes  Cats: Unknown Kids: Older only Prey drive: Unknown/none observed. My adopter needs to be willing to train me through these behaviours should they arise.  Fears: None observed. Please be patient in assisting me in my transition.  Training: Crate trained, housetrained. Please be patient in assisting me in my transition! Health Notes: Previous back-end injuries from an accident. Healed now.  I have been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I am up to date on all my shots including the rabies vaccine, monthly flea and tick prevention, and monthly heartworm prevention.  My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver.  Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##1796209##

Story
We are having a big adoption event this Saturday, April 27th with 50% off adoptions and will be closed this Friday, April 26th to get the shelter ready. Online applications will not be considered during this weekend event (April 27th and 28th). Priority will be given to people coming in during visiting hours. Our visiting hours are:Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 12-4:30 (Closed Friday, April 26th)Thursday, Public Holidays: closedSaturday, Sunday: 12-4Looking for an outgoing, energetic dog to add to your family? Look no further! Meet Kimber! She can be quite shy at first, but with a slow and proper introduction and lots of treats, Kimber comes around very quickly! This girl has completely come out of her shell with us and is very energetic! She loves going for long walks but tends to pull quite a bit on leash! Leash training and basic good manners would be ideal. Kimber tends to jump up out of excitability and could definitely benefit from an experienced adopter who would be able to train her. She is easily food motivated and eager to learn! Kimber seems to be quite curious of other dogs, but we have yet to fully introduce her. We are certain with a proper dog introduction; she would do well living with another dog. Kimber can be very vocal in her kennel and doesn't like being left alone and has become a bit destructive in her kennel, but is house trained. With eager, experienced adopters, Kimber would make a very loving and sweet family dog. Primary Color: Tri Color Weight: 30.7 Age: 0yrs 11mths 1wks
