Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.CIABATTA hails from the Northern Ontario community of Kingfisher Lake and came south with her sister, Hovis, to find her forever home. She was part of a litter of 4 puppies but only 2 came to this rescue. She’s spayed, received her first 2 vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and has been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We have no knowledge of her parents so the breeds we have listed as are just an educated guess based on what she looks like. We’re also assuming she’s going to be an XL dog based on the breeds she looks like she is. She’s a very active big bundle of energetic joy who loves to run around and play. She also loves to chew on her many teething toys including her Nyla bone. She’s out going and loves to snuggle up with you and be a shadow who follows you around everywhere. She is adventurous and loves to investigate new things she finds in her environment. CIABATTA is crate trained and sleeps quietly in it at night and will nap in it during the day too. House training is going great and she hasn’t had any accidents in her foster home since being there and she’ll cry to go outside for a bathroom break.Walking sometimes can be a bit of a challenge with her as she zig zags in front of you and basically acts goofy and wants to hang around your legs. After a while she will start to walk better and get to enjoy her walk. She’s definitely not your typical Northern dog when it comes to food as she eats very daintily and likes to graze on her food. She does love her treats though and will eat them right up and take them “gentle” from you. She has very good manners at meal time too as she’ll sit nicely for her meals and wait to hear “good girl” before she moves to eat.  CIABATTA’s ideal family would be an active one that loves the outdoors and to go on hikes and walks in the woods. She does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive and especially if it leads to an adventure for her. She’ll do well in a home with other dogs as she’s fostered with two of them and she loves to socialize with them too. She hasn’t met a cat so if there’s one in her new home they need to be introduced slowly while she’s kept leashed. The cat should also be dog savvy and a slow, monitored introduction should be done while the puppy is kept leashed. She doesn’t seem to be aware of the size she is and comes across as but of a klutz and will knock into things and do things like stand in her food bowl and tip over her water bowl. She should do well as an only pet in the home provided she’s not left alone for long periods of time every day. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be loving, kind and gentle towards animals. A fenced-in yard is a must for her so she can be kept safe while she has a run around and play and with the energy she has, she’ll need that for sure.  Puppies are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need her adopter to be in agreement to take her for puppy/obedience training to help her to become the best girl possible. If the big loveable CIABATTA sounds like she’ll suit your family and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet her. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 27, 2025, 10:02 pm
