Meet Samson!
A charming thirteen-year-old Norwich Terrier currently in Austin, TX, whose essence is classic terrier confidence wrapped in a cuddly tan teddy-bear coat. A former show dog, Samson knows how to make an entrance, and he is cute enough to stop people on the street! At 14 pounds, this small gentleman brings plenty of personality without demanding a marathon schedule, making him a delightful companion for someone who appreciates life at a gentler pace.
Samson’s favorite destination is the couch, where he is happy to settle in beside his person and supervise the day with distinguished terrier charm! He is not especially interested in toys, but meeting new people is another story. Friendly with adults who approach him, he can turn an ordinary outing into a social occasion. Short walks three or four times daily suit him nicely, and when left alone briefly, he usually sleeps.
Food is one of Samson’s great motivators, which can make positive reinforcement especially rewarding as he builds trust with a new caregiver. He already knows sit and come, and his food-focused nature gives his future family a useful way to keep learning fun. Samson can be stubborn, naturally, because a Norwich Terrier without opinions would hardly be playing the part. He also enjoys car rides and prefers predictable, low-key companionship.
This healthy senior is neutered, house-trained, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He has no known health issues and receives professional dental cleanings plus grooming about every six weeks. To help manage his tendency to gain weight, he eats a prescription diet twice daily. Thunderstorms can make him uneasy, so a calm, reassuring presence can help him feel secure and settled.
Samson forms strong bonds and can become protective of his person, even refusing to leave with a dog walker. A quiet adult home with a single woman or calm couple would suit his companion style.
