Story
Meet Freya, a stunning 4-year-old, 50-pound Norwegian Elkhound who embodies everything people love about this ancient and noble breed. With her soft coat, expressive eyes, and gentle spirit, Freya is one of those dogs who quietly wins your heart before you even realize it’s happening. She can be shy and a little nervous when meeting new people, but once she understands that you’re kind and safe, she opens up beautifully. Freya quickly becomes a devoted companion who wants to stay close, soak in affection, and share her sweet, loving nature. Those tender moments—when she melts into you after hearing she’s a “pretty girl”—are just priceless. Freya enjoys toys and balls, though she prefers her own style of play. Fetch isn’t her passion, but she loves batting her ball around, scooping it up, and prancing proudly with it. A securely fenced yard is ideal for her, giving her space to explore, run, and show off her adorable zoomies. Like many Elkhounds, she thrives in cooler weather and will happily go in and out of the door for fresh air as often as you’ll allow. This smart girl is both crate trained and potty trained. She absolutely loves spending time outdoors with her people and finds the world endlessly fascinating—especially birds, squirrels, and anything that moves just fast enough to keep her attention. She has seen a cat in her foster home and is quite intrigued and focused; we are happy to continue cat-testing for any adopter who needs clarity. Norwegian Elkhounds are known for their intelligence, loyalty, confidence, and strong bond with their families. Freya is a wonderful example of all these qualities and is ready to give her heart to someone who will appreciate her gentle soul and steady devotion. If Freya sounds like the companion you’ve been waiting for, please reach out to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comNovember 26, 2025, 8:42 pm

WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org Meet Henna – Your Future Walking, Wagging Work of Art! At just 9 months old, Henna is already proving that she’s more masterpiece than mutt. With her gorgeous reddish coat (seriously, Pinterest-worthy) and her goofy puppy charm, she’s fully prepared to brighten your world — and possibly your sofa, but only in the snuggliest way possible! Henna is the whole package: sweet, playful, affectionate, and just the right amount of silly. She loves her people — tall, small, and everything in between — though she’s still perfecting her “I don’t bowl over tiny humans with love” technique, so older kiddos might be her speed. She’s great with other dogs and would love a canine sibling to tag-team zoomies with. Cats? She’s young. She’s flexible. Negotiations are ongoing. Outdoorsy? Considering it? Henna’s your girl. She’s got an “up for anything” energy wrapped in 9 months of puppy enthusiasm. Ranch walks? Nailed it. Trails? Let’s go. Splashing through puddles like it’s an Olympic event? Gold medalist. She even checks in off-leash like she’s your personal life coach making sure you haven’t wandered into trouble. Henna is your go-anywhere, do-anything gal. After spending her whole young life in rescue, Henna is beyond ready for the good stuff — a home, a couch, a person, a snack schedule, and someone who appreciates her as the living, breathing mood boost she is. Henna’s Highlights - 9 months old (DOB 2/24/25) — approx. 60–70 lbs full grown - Stunning, reddish beauty with built-in sunshine - Great with people & other dogs - Smart, social, and affectionate (Velcro level: elite) - Adventure buddy by day, expert snuggler by night If you’re looking for a dog who’ll color your days, Henna is 'dye-ing' to fill it with joy, wiggles, and nonstop fun, Henna is ready to brighten your life in the best way. Apply today at haydudeequine.org — this radiant girl is ready to leave pawprints all over your heart!
