Story
Meet Silas, our gorgeous purebred Norwegian Elkhound puppy who is already stealing hearts Born at the end of October, 2025, Silas weighed 14 pounds as of 12/25—and this handsome boy is definitely going to grow into a big, impressive guy, likely around 60 pounds when full grown. Silas spent his early weeks exactly how puppies should—with his mama and littermates, learning important dog-to-dog skills and building confidence through play and nurturing. Now that he’s with us, he’s beginning the next chapter of his life: discovering how wonderful people can be and learning what it means to be part of a family. Because Silas didn’t have much hands-on human interaction early on, he can be a little shy at first, but don’t let that fool you. Once he warms up, his playful, joyful personality shines through. He loves running around, wrestling with other puppies, and—best of all—playing with real toys for the very first time! Watching him discover simple joys like toys, grass, and sunshine has been incredibly rewarding. True to his breed, Silas adores the outdoors. Norwegian Elkhounds are known for their outdoorsy nature, and Silas is no exception. He loves being outside, rolling in the grass, soaking up the sun, and just having fun, fun, fun! He is doing well learning to use pee pads and is also beginning to understand outside potty breaks. With continued patience, consistency, and love, he will thrive and blossom into an amazing companion. Silas will be ready for adoption in mid-January. A fenced yard is required, as this active, happy boy will need space to safely explore and play. If you’re interested in giving Silas the loving home he deserves, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com Silas is ready to bond deeply with his people and grow into the loyal, fun-loving Elkhound he was meant to be. PLEASE NOTE: Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted. Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.
