Story
Chewy was rescued thru ARF from the Wayne County Pound in Jan. 2026; adopted in Feb., but being returned in June - jut started semi nipping.
ARF will be very selective in a new furever home - he is a sweetheart, but needs training for his nipping (anxiety separation).
He was adopted in Jan. 2026, but due to his overly protective need, Chewy just started nipping (only some - not sll) when visitors go to leave. Current owner cannot try to retrain this new behavior.
He never nipped at the owner, just some of the guest that visit - and not everyone! He was great until some started to leave (his momma is very upset to rehome him).
He is all lovey dovey to everyone, until some go to depart - hit or miss when he becomes nippy - again not everyone.
He hasn't broken any skin, but it is not acceptable behavior. A doggie fence in the living room, and treats to praise when he behaves - until he understands he is okay furever. It just started, so patience to praise positive behavior makes everyone happy.
He is approx. 16 #, with his adorable face he would love a furever home. He is a mix of Papillon and possibly Daschund or King Charles Spaniel – since we do not know his history, we can only match his mix as close as possible.
** A fenced in yard is a priority. ** PROPER TRAINING TO STOP HIS NIPPING IS A MUST!
Chewy is a 5-year-old Papillon mix with the perfect balance of playful energy and cozy companionship. He absolutely loves to snuggle and lounge, making him a wonderful couch buddy after a long day.
This new behavior must be addressed without meds or punishment - in a kindly manner.
We do not want him bounced around from home to home because he nips out of anxiety.
When it’s time for fun, Chewy’s favorite thing is when you toss the tennis ball— he’s always ready for a little playtime! He’s also house and crate trained, so he already has great manners and will fit right into a loving home.
If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate pup who enjoys both play and relaxation, Chewy could be your perfect match!
A stay at home person is best & no children full time at this time.
Chewy has long hair with black/brownish fur with a touch of white and he is approximately 5 years young !
He has been to Wolfe Animal Hospital to receive his necessary vaccines and medical care. He is now on monthly heart worm prevention. He has been neutered & we are now taking applications for his adoption. - if you feel you are qualified to handle and retain his nipping!
