Story

Little Luna is an approximately 8 year old Pom/Pap mix who has a delightful personality and is as easy to love as they come!  She is also easy to live with - housetrained, fine when left alone, good with other dogs and friendly with new people.  She's really the total bundle! She came to our rescue as an owner surrender where, it seems, she was living in a senior's building and being passed around from one resident to the next.  Thankfully, she ended up at our vet for a exam and he intervened when her current owner said she couldn't look after her physically or financially.   Upon further exam, our vet found she had rotting teeth, a heart murmur, a mammary mass, early kidney insufficiency, wasn't spayed and had 'wonky' hips.  What a list of challenges this poor girl faced!  But never say never here at Speaking of Dogs Rescue! Luna has now been spayed, had her dental surgery and had the mass removed!  The mass came back from the lab as benign, so great news on that front!  Her heart murmur is a 2/6 and fairly common; she's on meds now and doing dandy.  For her kidneys, she has a special food that is low in protein so it's easier on her kidney function.  Her hips are not painful and while she does walk a bit off kilter, they do not recommend surgical intervention. She may be a bit hard of hearing and, while she doesn't bark much, when she does it sounds like she was de-barked at some point which is quite sad.  So there you have it!
