Story
Calling ALL terrier lovers!! Max is a stunning 8-year-old Parsons Russell Terrier mix, and he's about as shy as they come. Max was originally adopted from another shelter years and years ago and sadly one of his owners passed away and his other owner had to relocate to assisted living where dogs are not allowed. From Max's caregiver: "Max is a loyal, loving companion with a big heart and an even bigger personality. His favorite snacks are biscuits—and whatever you’re eating. Around 8 years old, Max is still curious and energetic, and he’s great at matching your pace. If it’s couch time, be sure to make room—he’ll happily curl up beside you or on your lap. If you’re feeling playful, Max is always ready to jump into action. He loves being close and will happily follow you from room to room. If it’s bedtime, he loves to snuggle up in bed if you’ll let him. Max is a scruffy black-and-white medium-sized dog with a charming little underbite that gives him a uniquely lovable face. He adores people and has a special soft spot for the ladies—always a perfect gentleman. His favorite toy is a small stuffed bear. Max spent seven wonderful years with a loving elderly couple, where he was truly spoiled and adored. Now, he’s ready to bring that same love and loyalty to his forever home. Max knows how to sit and has shown great potential to be trained further—he’s attentive, eager to please, and responds well to gentle encouragement. He’s still working on some house-training and would do best in a patient, loving home. " Max is around 25 lbs. and up to date on vaccines. He is praying for a home who will allow afford him the laid-back lifestyle he's used to. While he loves going for walks, his favorite past time is people watching. He's used to sleeping in bed with his owners and isn't keen on the crate but he's willing to try if that's a must for your lifestyle. Max has been around older kids ages 12 and up but hasn't lived with cats or even met one before! Max has only had limited experiences in dog-to-dog interactions but can get along if there is a slow and accommodating introduction. When new visitors enter the house, he will vocalize but warm up quickly. The foster home Max was in thinks he will do best with Teenagers, Men, Woman or an Elderly home. He's mostly potty trained as long as he has a strict routine. Max's new owner should prepare to give and maintain a potty schedule. New environments can stunt dogs, and it takes time to learn the potty rules. Max is available for adoption at Butte Humane Society Come by and meet him today! 13391 Garner Lane Chico 530-343-7917 Buttehumane.org
