Story
Hey everybody!! My name is Bella and here's more info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Patterdale Terrier mix (just a guess!) Age: 1 year 6 months approx. Gender: Female Weight: 29lbs (13 kg) Current Location: Guadalajara Mexico RESCUE STORY - I was likely born on the streets and was found as a young puppy living by a very busy road. This is really not the safest place for a pup and when my rescuer spotted me she said I was awfully close to being run over (yikes!). So she took me in with the best intentions, however she didn't have enough space for me and so I spent my few months with her living on the roof of her house. This didn't work well for me so I was transferred to a shelter where I've since been waiting for some kind hoomans to pick me as their furever pup! TEMPERAMENT - I am an extremely affectionate puppy who loves squeaky toys, belly scritches, and food (Oh boy do I love food! Probably because I didn't have much of it before). I also like socks, hair ties and flip flops (typical puppy chew targets hehehe). I'm very calm when I'm indoors but sometimes I 'talk' to let you know if I'm hungry or excited. I think it would be so great if I could have a yard of my own to run in. I love feeling the grass between my toes & I'm particularly intrigued by birds. I am also well-behaved at the dog park & sometimes I bark at other dogs to invite them to play with me! I have some separation anxiety and I'm not a big fan of being left alone so I need pawrents who are understanding of this and willing to help me through it :) I will repay them for their patience with many hugs and kisses! ENERGY LEVEL - High GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Yes! You can see me interact with kids here.  Dogs – Yep!! I get along just fine with other dogs.  Cats – Unknown PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – These are a work in progress as you can see here. My adopter must be willing to provide me with some training and patience :)  House trained – This is a work in progress. My foster says I'm good at doing my business outdoors but if I don't get out enough then I'll go inside. I don't yet know how to notify the hoomans when I need to go.  Crate trained – Not yet. I will need some training and patience.  Car rides – I'm okay in the car but be mindful that sometimes I get car sick! Please Note: WCP Dog Rescue partners with Unleashed Dog Training (Hannah Swain, Balanced Dog Trainer) to offer adopters 50% off one training session (not including tax and applicable gas surcharges). Any subsequent sessions will be offered at standard rates. WCP also highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I am spayed and vaccinated. NOTE: dogs from Guadalajara are not microchipped. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.
