Story
Meet this adorable little Pekingese mix who's proof that the best things really do come in small packages! This little guy has been through a lot in a short period of time and that doesn’t seem to have slowed him down. This 10lb pup has pup has enough personality, love, and enthusiasm to fill a house twice his size. He's equal parts cuddle bug and playful sidekick, always ready for a game, a walk, or, preferably, curling up as close to you as physically possible. If you're looking for personal space... he respectfully declines. He's happiest when he's following his person from room to room, making sure he doesn't miss a single moment. Shadow status: achieved. While he has plenty of pep in his step, he's also wonderfully easy to live with. He's quiet around the house, only occasionally announcing when someone walks past the yard. He's mostly housebroken and continues to make great progress every day. This sweet boy is still building his confidence and will thrive with a patient family who can show him that the world isn't such a scary place. As he settles in and learns to trust, his playful, affectionate personality shines brighter every day. He absolutely loves other dogs and would enjoy having a canine companion, though it's not required. He'd likely do well with cats too. Kids are an unknown, but respectful older children who understand that shy dogs need a little time may be a good fit. One area where he still needs a little extra support is veterinary visits. He gets very anxious and currently requires some sedatives for appointments, which may be related to the trauma he experienced before rescue when he was found severely matted. With time, patience, and positive experiences, we're hopeful his confidence will continue to grow. He's currently waiting for an echocardiogram before he can be neutered, so a foster-to-adopt home would be a wonderful option while he completes his medical care. If you're searching for an easygoing little companion who's equal parts playful, loyal, and world-class snuggler, this sweet guy is ready to steal your heart—and probably your spot on the couch. The adoption fee is $400. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
Ollie is a handsome Tibetan Spaniel/Peki x that is about a year old and weighs 16 lbs. This boy was found a couple weeks ago in a field by the Texas/Mexico border, with no people or houses for miles. After looking for his owners and nobody came forward, he is now ready to find his forever home. Ollie loves attention from humans. He seeks you out and feels safe being next to you. His favorite place to be is in the fosters lap. He is curious about cats, and he tries to sniff them, but otherwise he gets along great with the fosters inside cats and could live happily with them long term. Ollie is fine with smaller dogs, but he gets very scared around dogs bigger than him. We do not know his history, but he doesn’t seem to be fully house trained. The foster is working with him on this, but he will need consistent training on this in his future home. Ollie is doing great in a crate at night. He whimpers at first as he would much rather sleep in the fosters bed than anything, and we hope whoever adopts him gives him the chance to be the bestest cuddle buddy ever. He would be fine with older children! Ollie isn’t sure what toys are, which is so sad. We are slowly introducing things to him as we don’t want to overwhelm him. We have not worked with him on leash training so this will need to be worked on. We truly believe with a patient home, he will come out of his shell fully and just flourish. An ideal home for Ollie would be with someone that works from home, or who is home more often than not. We believe wherever he lived before, they just threw him in the backyard and forgot about him, judging by how little he knows on how to be a house doggy. What we do know is that Ollie is such a love bug. He loves cuddles. Loves laps. Wants to please and get lots of pets in return. He just wants a home where he will be truly cared for and doted on. Ollie will be neutered, heart worm negative, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on de-wormer, and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport.
