Meeko came to us with her friend Sugar Bear looking for a fresh new start. Meeko is a sweet senior girl with not too many thoughts happening behind those big eyes, but that doesn`t slow her down! She was spayed after we received her and she did have respiratory complications with anesthesia while under. we had a work-up done and checked some x-rays and her adopter would need to do the following: - Have an established Veterinarian & excellent communication skills with their Vet- Meeko NEEDS to continue to lose some weight- Understand Meeko might become expensive down the road with medical care- Grooming upkeepCurrently, Meeko is happy and every single day she just gets more adventurous exploring her play yard. She is bonded with Sugar Bear, or more so that Sugar Bear is VERY bonded to Meeko. They would need to be adopted together for Sugar Bear`s quality of life. Sugar Bear and Meeko keep their kennel clean on/off, coming from a home where they weren`t taught to go outside (or even went outside), the world is a new place for them, but training is coming along very smooth. They`re not so much treat motivated, but they do love being pet and held as their reward for doing a good job. If you got the time and love for two sweet girls, they sure would like a second chance to give someone all the smiles and love they are both capable of giving, stop by and say hi!

Meet the most obnoxious dog in the shelter -- PUGGIE!Puggie is a yorkie mix of around 5 years old visiting the shelter after being rescued from a hoarding situation. This guy has never had so much attention in his life- and believe us when we say he’s taking as much as he can get! For 5, Puggy is practically a bouncing baby boy. He has lots of energy, loves to run, play, jump up on you, and barks. He does not enjoy being left behind in a kennel and much rather join you on whatever adventure you are on. He has lived with plenty other small dogs and did fine with them but as always a meet & greet is necessary before being adopted. He has not shown any reactions to the felines here at MAS. Do not let that face fool you, Puggie is a handful and a half!! But will bring LOTS of smiles to his forever family

Sugar Bear is a sweet and shy girl who is VERY bonded to Meeko. Sugar Bear has displayed high anxiety when separated from Meeko and even refused eating until she was back sharing her bowl with Meeko. Sugar Bear was severely matted when we received her, so she is currently bald with fancy eyebrows. We could not praise Sugar Bear`s patience and temperament enough when it came to shaving, never once did she display aggravation during her groom, she knew we were here to help, and she was willing to receive that help. Sugar Bear is a bit more shy but has slowly been coming out of her shell.Sugar Bear and Meeko keep their kennel clean on/off, coming from a home where they weren`t taught to go outside (or even went outside), the world is a new place for them, but training is coming along very smooth. They`re not so much treat motivated, but they do love being pet and held as their reward for doing a good job.
