My name is Maynard and I am a senior dog looking for a place to spend my golden years. My backstory is a pretty sad one. I was found abandoned in a camper in southern Illinois. I had clearly been there for some time because I was super skinny. Sadly, the other dog in the camper was already deceased by the time we were found. Luckily Almost Home Foundation found a foster parent with a soft spot for seniors and was able to save me from an uncertain fate.But enough about my past. Let’s talk about the present. I am currently in a foster home with two adult humans and two doggie sisters while I wait to be adopted. I get along with the other dogs here. There are no cats or kids so I’m not sure how I would do with them. I am also housebroken, crate-trained, and fine being home alone when the humans are at work. I am very laid back. My favorite thing to do is to find the comfiest bed in the house to snooze in. I sure do love napping! My foster mom says that I am a total sweetheart and have the most soulful eyes. Sometimes I rest my head on her lap and she can’t resist petting me (which is exactly what I wanted!). That’s the basic information about me. And since you clicked on my picture and read my bio, here is what I know about you: you are willing to look beyond a dog’s age and get to know them for who they are. Age is just a number. I know that older dogs are often overlooked at adoption shows. People want younger dogs who are going to be around for a long time. And to that I say, don’t forget about us older pups! I was rescued when my owners wanted to euthanize me for having special needs. My previous family must have used a shock collar on me as I have some neck sensitivities. Once I know you I’m comfortable with you touching my neck but I need a little time with that. Keeping in mind that I’m deaf, I do appreciate you letting me know when your doing things to me so that your not scaring me. Investing your time and love into me will be so worth it!! I am an absolute sweetheart. I am a sweet, loving and smart baby who just wants a loving family who understands my special needs. I am good with older children and other animals.
