Story

Meet Colby! Colby is a 1 and 1//2-year-old purebred Pembroke Welsh Corgi weighing about 25 pounds. He is neutered and vaccinated. He's an energetic, playful boy who loves going for walks, playing and getting belly rubs. He is housebroken, crate trained, knows basic commands and has been through obedience training. Colby currently lives with a 13-year-old Lab/Husky mix whom he absolutely loves. He follows him around, plays with him and loves curling up for naps beside him. When meeting other dogs, Colby's initial reaction may be to bark and he prefers that they respect his space, especially around his face. Once he's given a little time to settle in and get comfortable, he will sniff and interact with them and can do very well. Colby can be possessive over certain things, so he will need an all-adult home with someone willing to continue working with him on this behavior. He is currently fed separately from the other dog in his home. With the right home and continued training, Colby will make a fun and loving companion. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1. You must begin our adoption process by applying to adopt on clawsadopt.org. Please do NOT inquire via Petfinder, social media messengers or in our comments. We will only be looking at applications! 2. Please make sure you fill out our adoption application COMPLETELY. We may not be able to respond to applications that are not completely filled out with the proper information. Side note: on our applications, the more details you provide = the better. 3. We prefer applicants live within 60 miles of Closter, NJ. (Applicants who live farther away may still apply. However, please note we do prioritize local applications as we try our best to serve our local community first.) 4. Please respect our organization, our volunteers and our process. As a reminder, our organization is a nonprofit. We receive no money from the state. We have no paid employees! This is a polite reminder that we are doing our best to make the right decisions for the animals in our care. Thank you. Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Whiskey (AL) is stepping into a whole new life, and he’s meeting it with a gentle, hopeful spirit that’s impossible not to love. This 2yearold Corgi mix spent his past watching the world from outside, never truly included, never given the comfort of a real home. Now that he’s finally indoors and safe, he’s discovering warmth, routine, and affection for the very first time — and he’s blossoming. One of the first things you notice about Whiskey is his soft, expressive eyes. They’re warm and earnest, the kind that seem to ask if you might have a little love to spare. He’s wonderful with people, easy around other dogs, and carries a calm sweetness that makes him feel like an old soul in a young dog’s body. Whiskey leans into kindness, follows you with quiet trust, and settles in close as if he’s been waiting his whole life for someone to choose him. He’s ready for a family who will show him he’ll never be left out again — a place where he can curl up, exhale, and finally belong. If you’re looking for a gentle companion with a tender heart, Whiskey is ready. Apply online to adopt Whiskey (AL) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org. His adoption fee is $650..Please be sure to reference this pet's name as Whiskey (AL) in case of duplicate names within the rescue. Thank you!All pets are current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. Story

Hi, My name is Graci and the big guy next to me is my brother, Cooper. We were born on July 1, 2022. We do everything together like eating and playing except sleep. I weigh 19 pounds. I might be small but I am a queen. Cooper weigh 23 pounds. He is a muscle man, my protector. WE are fixed, use a doggie door and are crate trained. We went to family manners training at Island Dog when we were puppies. I like to give kisses to people, but Cooper has to take time to check people out. If kids are nice to use we are nice to them. (Please keep in mind we are a herding breed) We've never been around cats so I dont know how we would be. We get our baths at Kaye's Yappy Hour where we meet a lot of different dogs without arguments. We will walk on leashes, but we love to run around the yard. We are looking for a home where we can stay together! Graci and Cooper are being fostered in Huntsville, AL. They are only available for local adoption. If you are interested in adopting please fill out an application on our website forrescue.net.

Story

Odie is 6 years old and loves to play. He needs some leash training, so an experienced owner or someone who can afford training is preferred. He has always had another dog in the home, so I would like to re-home him with my other dog, Leia, but understand if that's not possible. He's sweet and loves to cuddle; warning he will hog the bed lol.His previous owner passed away and that is the reason for relocation.
