Story
Meet our little survivor, Fluff a nutter. This tiny 24 week old kitten has already lived through more than most grown cats. X‑rays show that she once experienced an injury to the middle of her spine (around T12–L2), and because of that, she has some mild, lifelong neurologic quirks. They don’t affect her life expectancy, and she’s already proving just how beautifully a young cat can adapt. She moves with determination, figures things out her own way, and never lets her challenges dim her spirit. She’ll thrive in a home that’s mindful of her special start in life—somewhere without lots of stairs, and without big or rambunctious dogs who might accidentally knock her over. A calm, cat‑friendly dog could be just fine. Because her spine has old remodeling from that past trauma, her risk of reinjury is a bit higher than average, so a gentle environment is the key to helping her stay safe.In every other way, she’s a bright, affectionate kitten who’s ready to grow up loved. She’s resilient, joyful, and endlessly curious—she just needs a family who sees her for the brave little soul she is."We're so excited you're interested in adopting a new furry friend! To help us find the perfect match for you and our animals, we're pre-approving applicants. Here's how it works:Please start by filling out our adoption application: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=rz1556&method=online_form_html&formid=6This helps us learn more about you, including which animal you're interested in, your family, any other pets you have, your living situation (owning or renting), and your veterinarian. We understand that if you don't currently have pets, you won't have a vet reference. In that case, we kindly ask for a personal reference instead. Why we ask these questions:We want to make sure we find the best possible fit for both you and the animal. For renters, we need to confirm with your landlord that pets are allowed, as unfortunately, many landlords in Franklin County have restrictions.Checking with your veterinarian helps us ensure that our animals receive the ongoing medical care they deserve. What happens next:Once we receive positive references from your landlord (if applicable) and veterinarian (or personal reference), we'll contact you to schedule an appointment if you're interested in adopting a dog.If you're looking for a feline friend, you're welcome to come in anytime during our open hours!Important information:Adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis, based on the date your application is approved. We're truly grateful for the overwhelming interest in our animals! Our staff is working diligently to approve applications as quickly as possible. While it may take a few days, most applications are approved sooner.Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to find loving homes for our wonderful animals!"
