Story
Hi, I’m Annie-Sue! I’m a 4-year-old, 50-pound Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen mix with long ears, a soulful face, and a very tender heart. I’m still a little confused about all the changes in my life, but even through that uncertainty, everyone says how incredibly sweet and tolerant I am. I’m gentle by nature, and when I’m unsure, I lean into kindness rather than fear. I’m what you might call a howler— it’s just part of who I am right now. I use my voice when I’m lonely or unsure, so I’d do best in a home (not an apartment) where I can express myself without worrying about neighbors. I’d also really thrive with another dog or with people who are home a lot, because companionship helps me feel settled. Once I know I’m not alone, my true personality starts to shine. I may take a little time to fully open up, but I promise there’s a truly special dog waiting underneath the uncertainty. If you’re someone who understands that the sweetest souls sometimes just need time—and you have the space and heart for a dog like me—I’d love the chance to be part of your family! Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.

APPLY FOR BARON Let us introduce you to Baron!     Baron is a mix of Bassett Hound and Great Pyrenees. With a birthday estimated to be on June 19th, this handsome pup comes to you neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated, ready for a loving forever home.     Baron's journey hasn't been the easiest. He was discovered wandering on the streets with his mom and littermates, but, sadly, not all of them made it. Upon arriving at the rescue, Baron was grappling with a broken leg, a likely result of a hit and run. It was a tough start for this sweet boy, but Baron proved to be a remarkable trooper. With the right care and attention, he made a full recovery, showcasing his resilient spirit and unwavering will to thrive.     Now, Baron is blossoming more than ever. His playful personality is starting to shine as he explores the world around him, bouncing around with enthusiasm. While he’s still getting the hang of all his puppy basics, don’t let that fool you because he has a wonderfully sociable nature! Baron adores interacting with other dogs, gets along well with cats, and is especially gentle and loving towards kids, making him a perfect addition to any family.     So, if you’re looking for a furry friend with a big heart and a playful spirit, Baron might just be the perfect dude for you!
