Story
We can't have a Bonnie without a Clyde! Clyde was terrified at animal control, and he showed teeth to just about everyone. He LOVES other dogs, and quickly started to trust his foster mom. Sometimes, they just need patience and love. This is why foster families are SO important! Clyde was at risk of euthanasia due to his fear-based aggression. This poor little guy was just misunderstood. He is just 3-years-old, and he is a little plump at 12-pounds. We think he's likely a Chihuahua/JRT mix. Clyde must have another friendly dog in his forever home. He would be best in a family without young children. Someone who can continue to help him to trust strangers would be ideal. Clyde is good on a leash, in the car, likes to cuddle, and he likes to play. He is fine in a crate, but you have to let him come out on his own time. He is terrified if you try to pull him out manually. Can you help bring joy to a little lad like Clyde? If so, he promises to return that love in spades. Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog His minimum adoption donation amount is $345. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. We are located in Bloomington, IL We do not ship, you would need to travel to pick up your babies if you live out of state. Your current pets must be up-to-date on core vaccines, spayed/neutered, and on heart worm prevention year round. You must be at least 21-years-old to adopt. Please have your veterinarian and two non-family reference phone numbers ready. The app makes you start all over if you leave the page to look up numbers. Story
If quiet souls are your favorite kind, Betsy just might steal your heart. At only 1 year old and 8 pounds, this precious Chihuahua is learning that life can be kind. Betsy came from a heartbreaking hoarding situation with 130 other dogs, so the world is still a big, unfamiliar place to her. She isn’t fearful forever—she just needs a little time, patience, and someone who understands that trust is earned. One thing that gives Betsy confidence? Other small dogs! She absolutely needs a friendly, confident canine companion in her forever home to show her the ropes and help her continue blossoming. Watching another dog enjoy life helps Betsy realize she can too. She is crate trained, rides well in the car, and is potty pad trained. Leashes are still new to her, so she’ll need a secure home and a family willing to let her learn at her own pace. Because sudden movements and loud activity can be overwhelming, Betsy is looking for a home without small children. Cats are unknown. There was a brief moment when we thought Betsy was expecting puppies, but it turned out to be a false (pseudo) pregnancy. She has now been spayed, is healthy, and is more than ready to begin the next chapter of her life. Betsy isn’t looking for perfection—she’s looking for patience, gentle encouragement, and a home where she can continue discovering just how wonderful life can be. The day she finally chooses your lap, follows you from room to room, or wags her tail with confidence will be a moment you’ll never forget. Could you be the family that shows Betsy what love has always been meant to feel like? ❤️ Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog Her minimum adoption donation amount is $375 She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heart worm checked, and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. Story
Introducing Sir Pistachio Longshanks! Chio to his friends, which seems to include just about everyone he meets. Chio is an eight-year-old Chihuahua mix who weighs just under eight pounds. He has a little miniature Shiba Inu look about him and some impressively long legs. We felt a name with a title was only appropriate. He’s an affectionate little lap dog who enjoys being held, but doesn’t insist on it. There’s a whole world to investigate, after all. Getting a good photograph of him is a challenge because he’s so excited to see what’s going on around him. Chio has things to look at. Your photo shoot will have to wait. He seems comfortable in a crate and does okay on a leash. He has been quiet so far and seems to get along with other dogs, although dogs who come on too strong can frighten him. He hasn’t been cat tested. We think older, respectful children should be fine. Chio came to us with Titan after being confiscated by animal control. We don’t know the circumstances, and our focus is on his future happiness rather than a past we can’t explain. The boys don’t appear to be bonded, but they can certainly be adopted together. The vet’s office isn’t his favorite place. He seems worried about what might happen, so patience and gentle handling help. Outside of those understandably suspicious appointments, he seems delighted to meet new people. A little lap time, a little exploring, and someone to love him. That sounds like a pretty good next chapter for Sir Pistachio Longshanks. Please apply here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DBSR/Dog The minimum adoption donation amount is $275 All dogs are fixed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, heartworm checked, and on flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
