This chocolate chip muffin of a Pointer mix has all the right ingredients to grow into an amazing companion. Mavis is sweet, silly, and full of bouncy energy, with a love for tennis balls, squeaky toys, plush toys, water, and a good run. Once she`s tired out, she`s happy to switch into cuddle mode.Our staff is working with Mavis every day, using gentle handling, positive reinforcement, and plenty of patience as she learns the ropes. One of the biggest lessons for her is that people can be kind, predictable, and safe, and she`s learning it beautifully.A recent note from Mavis`s training session:`Worked with Mavis inside her kennel on basic commands. She responded to `sit` 5/5 times, `lay down` 4/5 times, and `touch` 4/5 times. She did well with the cue `off` when jumping and was able to redirect into a sit. I was also able to kneel at her level, offer affection, and gently pet her neck.`She also happily hopped into the car, and she`s been enjoying playdates with our resident ladies man, Mojo. We`re so proud of this sweet girl. She`s gaining confidence, building trust, and moving forward at a really lovely pace.Mavis would love an active home with people who enjoy getting outside and are excited to keep working on her training. A calm, steady household without a lot of visitors helps her feel secure. For now, she`s most comfortable around women, so a home with women only is the best fit while she keeps building trust.
