Story
Chopper is a smart older guy who loves people. He's very loyal, he loves to be petted and anywhere you are. Chopper would do best in a calmer home with experienced dog owners. He would do best as an only dog and he isn't fond of cats. He can get very excited and loves to play with toys and he is a strong chewer. A home without small children is recommended. Chopper has been neutered, microchipped, and is up to date on vaccinations and preventatives.

Story
Estimated DOB 5/29/25 Meet Sparrow — a tiny miracle wrapped in courage, joy, and the purest survivor’s spirit. Sparrow’s story is a true rescue story. When she was found, she had suffered severe head trauma — almost certainly caused by a human. Her skin had to be reattached, and for two long weeks she didn’t move except to eat and go potty. Her foster family held their breath each day, unsure if she’d keep fighting. And then… one morning, Sparrow simply decided to live. From that moment on, her light started shining. With the help of her foster dogs—who became her teachers, comforters, and cheerleaders—Sparrow learned to trust again. Humans had hurt her, but her four-legged friends showed her the world could still be safe. 🌟 Her Blossoming Personality: She learned potty training instantly. She discovered balls roll downhill and must be chased with great enthusiasm. She loves to run, play fetch, and explore the world on off-leash nature walks. She’s never chewed anything in the house and is wonderfully well-behaved… (unless she’s trying to wake up her buddy Frieda for a play session!) She’s still a little uncoordinated while walking as her muscles get stronger—but nothing slows this girl down. And yes… she loooooves food and treats. Sparrow may be shy when meeting new people, and who could blame her after what she endured? But give her a little time, patience, and kindness, and she will repay you with a heart full of gratitude, trust, and joy. Her foster says she is “easygoing, non-annoying, and an absolute joy to have around”—a dog who reminds you every day what resilience looks like. Adoption fee includes spay.

Story
Please contact Tonya Griffith (TMSGriffith@aol.com) for more information about this pet.Posted on 10/13/23, and the pictures were taken on 10/6/23.  Cora was at the Smith County, TX Animal Shelter for 30 days, so we tagged her, and picked her up on 9/23.  She is very energetic, so may not be good around smaller children.  We don't know if she is house or crate trained, she does well on a leash, but needs more work, and is good with other dogs.  We have not seen any signs of her trying to dig or climb over the fencing.  We don't know how she is with cats.  She was estimated to be 1 year 6 months old on 8/28/23 weighing 49.6 pounds.  She will be spayed on 10/18/23, and his heartworm negative. $25 adoption fee, since donations were made for her vet care.March 17, 2026, 3:04 pm

Story
LOCATION: Des Moines, WADOB: 09/19/2019Everest is a Great Dane–Pointer mix with a gentle soul and a lot of love to give. He’s a true attention seeker in the best way and will happily lean in or forget his size when asking for pets. He’s fully house trained and kennel trained, and his crate is his safe space—he sleeps there peacefully every night. Outside, he loves having room to move and will happily gallop around a fenced yard, nose to the ground and ears alert, putting his pointer instincts to good use while keeping an eye on the local squirrels. His energy level is moderate and well balanced. Everest enjoys activity and playtime, but he also knows how to settle and relax once his needs are met. One of his funniest quirks is his love for rolling onto his back and dramatically “playing dead,” and when mealtime is near, he makes sure you know—he’s highly food motivated and starts drooling in anticipation.Everest can be selective with other dogs, but with thoughtful introductions he can build strong bonds. He currently lives with a bull terrier mix, and their relationship is incredibly sweet. He does best with confident, calm, well-socialized dogs who can act as mentor types and help guide him. While he may thrive in a single-dog home, he could live with another compatible dog under the right circumstances. Small dogs, cats, and other small animals are not a good fit for him, as they trigger his prey drive. He’s done well with kids, particularly older children who are calmer and more predictable. Because he likes to paw for attention and doesn’t always realize how big he is, a home without babies or toddlers would be safest. With adults and strangers, Everest is generally unfazed—he’s neutral on walks and in the house, though he may bark at unfamiliar people passing by when he’s outside. He’s equally comfortable with men and women, with a slight preference for the ladies.Everest walks on leash and continues to improve with each outing, though he may pull a bit or zigzag when excited. He rides well in the car and enjoys going along for adventures. He has worn a muzzle briefly without issue, and while he’s not fully muzzle trained, it would likely be an easy transition if ever needed. Loud or unpredictable noises like knocking or heavy footsteps can make him uneasy, so a calmer household suits him best.Medically, Everest has a few cosmetic quirks that make him uniquely him—worn and missing bottom teeth, skin tags, hair loss on his elbows, and a few other imperfections that don’t slow him down or affect his quality of life. He does best on a fish-based diet and may not tolerate chicken or beef well. None of his physical traits impact his ability to love deeply and live comfortably.Everest would do best in a relaxed, consistent home with a fenced yard where he can run freely and safely. He’s not a dog-park kind of guy and prefers predictable routines and familiar faces. He can be crated or left out when his people are away, as long as tempting “toy-like” items are put away. He may come with an unknown past and a few extra considerations, but with patience, understanding, and love, Everest is an incredibly rewarding companion who’s ready to finally settle into a home of his own.========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match!
