Story
What a cute pair Augustine and baby Augie make! Theres no way Augustine can deny her little girl, because Augie is definitely Augustines mini-me. Both these beautiful girls also have mitten paws. They are polydactyl, each having extra thumbs. This is called preaxial polydactyl, when the cats extra toes form in the middle of the paw, giving it a thumb-likeor mitten-likeappearance. Augustine and Baby Augie were rescued during a Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) operation. Baby Augie is a typical kitten. Ready to play and cuddle.

They are polydactyl, each having extra thumbs. This is called preaxial polydactyl, when the cats extra toes form in the middle of the paw, giving it a thumb-likeor mitten-likeappearance. Augustine is also an unofficial Scottish Fold cat, thanks to both of her crinkle ears. Augustine has a condition called califlower ear. Its relatively common, especially among stray and feral cats. Its actually a scarring of the pinna, or flap part of the ear. This scar tissue forms as the ear heals from trauma or possible untreated infection from ear mites. Fortunately Augustine is completely healed and while it may look peculiar, its harmless in the long run. Augustine and Baby Augie were rescued during a Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) operation. Augustine is a friendly girl and purrs for pets. She prefers to keep all four paws on the ground.

Story
Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  HI! I'm Matt Meownaughey but you may call me Matt The Cat for short. Aren't I a handsome baby? My mommy was rescued from a hoarding situation with her two newborn kittens. She didn't want to raise us there. She was so happy to be leaving that she purred the entire way to our new foster home! I am a quiet darling boy that is a thoughtful soul and my sister, Sophie, is an adventurous young lady. We go perfectly together! I love playing with my sister, . We are such a cute little white & black family. I and my mommy are Hemingway kitties. We have extra toes! Oh, did I mention how sweet I am? I guess I should do that. I am extremely sweet and loving, so is Sophie and so is mommy! We haven't been around doggies but we are young enough to adjust and Sophie and I love other kitties! Sadly, Sophie had an accident and fell oddly and broke her leg. She recently had an operation to put pins in leg. She is doing extremely well and she's ready for adoption but will have to be able to return to the Emergency Hospital in Knoxville for one more appointment. The entire staff at the Emergency Hospital couldn't stop talking about what a great personality she has. So, since we are a lot alike, you must realize that mommy and I have a great personalities too! Mommy (Izzy) & Sophie are in some pictures with me. Sophie and I must to stay together AND have the best family.... EVER!!! (If you want to bring mommy along, we'd love that!) Love,Matt The Cat & Sophie *Due to our size, no young children If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you cannot get it to work, let us know and we will email it to you in a different format. Unless otherwise noted, all Almost Home cats are healthy, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and flea & tick preventative. ****Puppies and kittens will be fixed when they are 5 months old. When they are adopted younger than 5 months, they MUST be adopted in East Tennessee.ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. October 3, 2023, 9:54 pm

I want to have that perfect home that I have always been dreaming about. Matt The Cat and I are Hemingways. We have extra toes! I have a thing for hugging shoes. I don't know why, they just call to me. I love people and I adore my babies. I'm very gentle with them. I would do great with older children that know how to treat kitties. I'm a cuddle bug and I love to hang with my people. I am an adorable white & black girl with soft fur and a big black poofy tail. I am quite stunning. We are the cutest white & black furry family I'm ready for my dream home and if you would like to bring my kittens, that's just an extra bonus!
