Story
Meet CALVIN !!! This sweet little handsome man found himself in rescue after we drove 3 1/2 hours to save him from Northern Arizona. His previous household was trauma for him and he endured that for years until Animal Control got involved. Calvin was locked in a crate for DAYS sometimes WEEKS , left with enough food and water for a few days and then left to rot until the owner came back . Thankfully the neighbors and friends got involved , reported the owner , it took 2 years for them to save Calvin , but he is finally free and in foster care with us !! After being in a foster home for several weeks , we are pretty sure Calvin is deaf or VERY hard of hearing and that is also why he has separation anxiety. Calvin is a super sweet , loving , Velcro dog. He loves to cuddle up and take naps , loves to go places , loves to go on walks , is really enjoying his stroller rides , is doing really well with other dogs in foster care , and continues to grow each day. He does have separation anxiety , which is absolutely understandable , but we are working through it and he is doing great with his routine. Calvin would do great in a home with someone who is home often , someone who likes to cuddle , go for walks when it's cool outside ,someone who just wants his love and attention because he has a lot to give. We do prefer no small children in the home because he is a senior. Other calm dogs in the home would be okay as well, he doesn't seem to be reactive to cats , he just wants his human to follow around and love. If you would like to apply to meet Calvin you can email afpintake@gmail.com or Text/ Call his foster mom at 602-736-9523 He is neutered , vaccines up to date and microchipped. He is crate trained and knows how to use a dog door . He does use a belly band while free roaming inside the house and doesn't mind using those.

Story
You can still text Alyssa to meet - but this dog is now with AZ Small Dog Rescue Meet Rocky! 🐾 If you've ever said, *"I love those spicy little Chihuahuas,"* then Rocky just might be your guy. Rocky is a 10-12-year-old, 7-pound Min Pin/Chihuahua mix looking for a home that appreciates him exactly as he is - a tiny dog with a very big opinion of himself. 😄 After losing his beloved owner, Rocky is searching for someone to call his person again. He bonds deeply with his human and takes that job very seriously. Once you're in his circle, he's a loyal little sidekick who loves being close to his favorite person. Because Rocky can be protective, we think he'd thrive best in a quiet home with a single owner or an all-female household. While he has done well with some men, he takes his job to protect the women in the home very seriously. He isn't looking to be difficult - he genuinely believes he's the head of security. Visitors are not Rocky's favorite thing. He'll happily let everyone know there's an intruder at the door, and he's not afraid to voice his opinions. His adopter should be comfortable advocating for him by putting him in a separate room or using a baby gate when guests visit. With good management, this is very easy to work around. Because Rocky can be a little nervous in new environments, his future family should be extra mindful about doors and gates, especially during his adjustment period. Like many small dogs settling into a new home, he could be a flight risk if given the opportunity. Taking simple precautions - using baby gates, double-checking doors, and making sure he can't slip outside when people are coming and going - will help keep him safe while he learns that he's finally home. Because of his protective nature, Rocky is looking for: • An adult-only home (no young children) • Someone who understands and appreciates Chihuahua personalities • A home where his boundaries will be respected and he'll never be expected to "make friends" with every visitor Rocky gets along well with cats, other small dogs and enjoys their company. Large dogs tend to make him a little nervous, so he'd be happiest with small canine/cat friends or as your one-and-only. Like many little senior boys, Rocky wears a belly band indoors if he can't be supervised, especially in homes with other dogs, as he may mark. He knows how to use a dog door and does great with a consistent routine. Rocky recently had a dental, so he's feeling much better and ready to smile with the teeth he has left! He also has a low-grade heart murmur that doesn't currently require medication, but it's something his future family should simply be aware of as he gets older. Rocky is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to find someone who understands that not every dog wants to be everyone's best friend, and that's okay. If you're looking for a tiny, loyal companion who will love you fiercely, keep watch over the house, and make you laugh every day with his oversized personality, Rocky is ready to meet you. Sometimes the best dogs aren't the easiest dogs - they're the ones who make you feel like you're their whole world. Call/text Alyssa: 602-931-3029

Neutered-Vaccinated-Microchipped-Dewormed-Crate trained-Knows how to use a dog doorMy name is Happy! I am shy at first, but I love love love my person once I trust them! I love to play with toys, other dogs, cuddle on the couch, and jump in my puppy pool! I follow my foster mom around the house and yard making sure she doesn't get lost. She says I'm super sweet. I use the dog door to go potty and to check the yard. I like to sleep on the couch, but I don't mind sleeping or staying in a kennel while my foster family sleeps or goes to the store. I would love to have an awesome forever family that loves me and another dog brother or sister. I don't think I would like to be an only dog, that sounds lonely. But this place has too many dogs. I can't wait to meet you!My dog foster mom is Sasha (She's up for adoption, too!) My real mom and dad passed away before help arrived. I came into rescue from a hoarding case out of Whittmann Arizona. I was pretty young, 3 weeks old at most, but super thankful my foster mom took me on! If you have questions or want to know more about me, contact my foster mom Marcela 602-736-9523 or afpintake@gmail.comSenior and first responder adoption special... $200 ... limited time! Only until August 16th!
