Story
Meet Gretchen — or “Gigi” to her friends!   This tiny survivor was found sitting on the side of the road in Houston — underweight, hurting, and all alone.   When she first came in, Gigi’s skin was extra crunchy from neglect, she tested positive for heartworm, and X-rays showed a fracture in her front leg. She’s been on strict cage rest to give it time to heal and will be seeing our vet for a recheck in a week or two.   But here’s the best part — this little lady is now safe and thriving in a foster home in Pagosa Springs, CO! Her foster says:   > “She’s doing great. Eating well. Walking with a limp but doesn’t appear to be in distress. She’s a very nice pup — potty trained, gets along with the other dogs now, has a great spirit, and wants to please.”   Her skin has improved tremendously, her tail never stops wagging, and her sweet personality shines brighter every day. From crunchy to cuddly — Gigi’s comeback story is one for the books.   Gigi would love to find her forever home now while she continues to heal. Meet Muneca This tiny sweetheart has been through more than any 6-year-old Chihuahua mix should — but her story isn’t over yet, thanks to a second chance.   Muneca was surrendered to a Houston shelter back in September and would have found herself on the euthanasia list this week simply because she’d been waiting too long. Volunteers described her as quietly pleading for love — sitting in her kennel, softly whimpering, just hoping someone would notice her. And now, someone finally did.   Denkai stepped in to save Muneca, and she’ll be arriving to us on November 5th to start the next chapter of her life!   This little 20 lb girl is spayed, gentle, and loves her canned food. She tested positive for heartworm, but don’t worry — it’s treatable, and she deserves to live out her golden years healthy and adored.   Muneca might be considered "older," but she certainly doesn’t act like it!
