Story
Hi, I’m Little Bo Peep! I’m a senior gal looking for a very special kind of person… someone willing to give me the time and space to decide that you’re my person. I came to Homeward after my previous owner experienced some medical issues and could no longer care for me, and adjusting to a new life has been a lot for a little old lady like me. I’ll be upfront: I don’t hand out my affection to just anyone. I can be timid and definitely have some stranger danger, so it takes me a while to warm up to new people. I’m also a bit set in my ways and appreciate people who understand my boundaries. But once I decide I love you? Oh boy, do I love you. I’m an incredibly loyal little lap dog who would gladly spend the entire day curled up on you or being carried around in your arms. With the people I trust, I’m affectionate, devoted, and happiest when I can be as close to them as possible. Because I like life on my own terms, I’m looking for a quiet, adult-only home with someone patient and experienced who won’t rush me and will let our relationship develop at my pace. Like many senior gals, I need a little extra care. I take medications for arthritis and urinary health, and I have glaucoma, so my person will need to be comfortable keeping up with my medical needs. I know I’m not going to be the dog who falls in love with everyone she meets, and that’s okay. I’m just looking for that special someone to call my own, and when I find them, they’ll get all the love this little old lady has to give. Love, Little Bo Peep

If you qualify and are interested in participating in this program, please fill out an application online and type "SENIOR" after your name. ** Isadora has been diagnosed with Cushing's disease (hyperadrenocorticism). This is a disorder where the pituitary gland produces excess cortisol. This requires daily medication to keep regulated. Isadora is on Vetoryl 10 mg once a day. This medication costs about $71 per month. She will also require an ACTH stimulation test every 6-12 months depending on the veterinarian, to make sure her condition is regulated.   Isadora would love a new best friend!   Foster Home Feedback  10/4/26 Foster Feedback: Isadora continues to make wonderful progress with her mobility and energy. While she still occasionally leaks in her sleep, she has improved tremendously with her bathroom needs and rarely requires a wipe-down anymore. Her physical therapy has helped her hold her body up much better, and it’s been so wonderful to see her becoming stronger and more comfortable. Isadora is also very food motivated. She may not make a peep, but if you have a yummy bite of food, you can bet she’ll be sitting nearby, staring you down with those sweet eyes! She knows exactly when it’s time for meals and when it’s time for her pills (aka treats), and she’ll even get a little case of “reserved zoomies” when she’s excited.  Recently, Isadora attended her very first adoption event at Hollands! She spent most of the visit curled up comfortably in her bed, happily accepting head pets from everyone who stopped by like the little queen she is.  She continues to be a quiet and sweet angel who deserves a loving, calm retirement home where she can spend her days feeling safe, cherished, and adored. 9/15/26 Foster Feedback:  We’ve had the absolute pleasure of fostering Isadora for the past month, and she is truly the sweetest little girly. She is calm, quiet, incredibly gentle, and seems completely unphased by most things around her. In fact, we have never heard her bark, except for one tiny, quiet bark in her sleep, which was pretty adorable.  Isadora is dog friendly, although she is mostly indifferent to other dogs. She would likely be perfectly happy as an only pet. Given her very mild and gentle temperament, we suspect she could do well with cats too.  Her favorite things are getting lots of head pets, curling up in a fluffy dog bed, enjoying soft treats, exploring the backyard, and soaking up the sunshine. She also loves going for walks in her dog stroller and seems to enjoy taking in the world from the comfort and safety of her ride. Isadora is potty trained, but because she is a senior, she benefits from having more frequent opportunities to go outside to help prevent accidents. She does have some mobility challenges. She cannot safely navigate stairs and needs to be lifted and kept away from them. She also has low vision due to cataracts, so her environment should be kept safe and predictable. Because of arthritis and low muscle strength, Isadora currently needs a little extra help with bathroom cleanup, as she isn't always able to hold herself fully upright while peeing. We use wipes to clean her afterward. She can also occasionally leak while sleeping, so we keep washable pads or blankets underneath her bed for easy cleanup. The good news is that this seems to be improving with medication and gentle physical therapy exercises at home to strengthen her back legs and hips. We’ve also noticed an improvement in her energy level. Despite her age and physical limitations, Isadora has so much sweetness and personality. She loves snuggling next to us in bed or relaxing on our laps (always well-secured and supervised for her safety), but she is equally happy having some quiet alone time in her favorite fluffy bed. She has a lovely balance of affection and independence. She is also an absolute gem for grooming. She does wonderfully for nail trims and was a total sweetheart during her bath and groom. She would thrive in a calm, loving home that can give her the extra patience, safety, and care that come with being a senior pup.   Isadora is the kind of dog who doesn’t ask for much. She just wants a soft bed, some sunshine, a few treats, gentle pets, and to be close to her people.  She truly is the cutest, sweetest, gentlest little dear, and we feel so lucky to have gotten to know her.To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org October 10, 2026, 8:32 pm
