Story
Crystal is a 6 yr old Pomeranian mix who weighs 7 lb. Crystal is spunky and energetic. She's a snuggler and affectionate and enjoys walking and sleeping in the bed with her foster parents. This friendly, happy Pom mix could be an only dog or have another small dog in the home, but she's really about her people. Any other dog in the home will need to be under 10lbs. She has mastered leash walking and doing well on housetraining.   Crystal had a visit to the cardiologist who identified via an ultrasound a heart murmur due to mitral valve disease and put her on Vetmedin. Crystal will need to be on this medication for the rest of her life and should receive cardiology checkups once a year or sooner if something changes. She has no outward signs of heart issues at this time but will benefit from Vetmedin (which slows the progression of heart enlargement and produces a good quality of life).  Although Crystal is asymptomatic for heart disease, whoever adopts her will have to be vigilant and watch for any possible progression of heart disease and be able to afford Vetmedin (which she will need to be on for the rest of her life) and heart check-ups.  Heart disease is not uncommon in small dogs, so please read up on it and research the cost of Vetmedin.  Crystal is on Vetmedin 2 times/day.   Her outlook is good with weight control and Vetmedin. Crystal will come with 2 bottles of Vetmedin. WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME (NO CHILDREN) WITH A SECURELY FENCED YARD FOR CRYSTAL'S ADOPTIVE HOME.  The secure fence must be 4ft or higher, with gaps no greater than 1.5 inches and attached to the home. An invisible fence, enclosed patio, terrace or deck, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing) it needs to be at least 36 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT.  No exceptions.   We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business. Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, North Carolina to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. We do not ship dogs or put them on transports. Veterinary Care: All Hart-2-Heart Rescue foster dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartworm prevention, parvo/distemper, bordetella, and rabies vaccines and are professionally groomed. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing. Adoption Fee:  $500April 23, 2024, 12:14 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Marigold is a bit bigger than Iris, at 7 lbs. She has an equally big personality and is more vocal about it than Iris. Marigold has fewer opinions about beef v. chicken and pillows v. blankets, but she loves a plush dog bed. She's dog friendly, but untested with cats and kids, but is mostly just indifferent to everything but her human. Marigold is sweet as sugar, loves snuggles, she could be petted for hours. She has just been spayed, had some benign mammary masts removed, and has a quick check of her teeth. She has lost some teeth and needs several more removed. Otherwise, she has a great appetite and is overall healthy.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 22, 2024, 10:04 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Iris is the smallest of the two, at just 4.5 lbs, but she has a big personality. She's spunky and sweet and snuggly. (Pictured happily swaddled in a blue fleece blanket after her spay surgery.) She has strong opinions, for example chicken is far superior to beef and pillows beat blankets every time, but she's sweet as sugar. She's dog friendly, untested with cats and kids, but is mostly just indifferent to everything but her human. Iris has no teeth, has just been spayed, and had benign mammary masts removed. Vet suggested she could gain a little weight, but she'll always be smaller than her sister Marigold. Otherwise Iris is in good health and has a good appetite.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 22, 2024, 10:04 pm
