Story
Lilly is currently in a foster home - if you are interested in meeting her please call so we can coordinate with her foster family (:Lilly is a gentle senior girl with a soft heart, lovely manners, and a quiet spirit that shines brightest once she feels safe. At 8 years old, Lilly is looking for a calm, understanding home where she can settle in at her own pace and enjoy the comfort she deserves after all she’s been through. Lilly came to us after her owner passed away and was later surrendered because the other dogs in the new home were simply too energetic for her. Needless to say, this sweet girl has experienced a lot of change and is ready for a peaceful next chapter filled with patience, kindness, and love. She can be shy when meeting new people and will need a little time to build trust, but once she does, Lilly shows her affection in the sweetest ways — soft tail wags, gentle eagerness to greet familiar faces, and a love for quiet companionship. Shelter staff have watched her slowly open up, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see her gentle personality emerge. Lilly previously lived with a Pomeranian and generally does well with respectful, low-key dogs. She has shown no reactivity in the shelter, though excessive noise and chaos can overwhelm her, so she would likely do best with a companion who matches her calm energy. We’re always happy to arrange a dog meet-and-greet if needed. She has also lived around cats and may do well with them in some situations, but because she can sometimes decide to chase them, a cat-free home may be the easiest fit for everyone! Lilly is the definition of a seasoned house dog. She is potty trained, waits patiently to go outside, and has not been known to be destructive when left alone. While she has not been crate trained, she often keeps herself content with toys and settles nicely on her own. She also has wonderful leash manners and knows an impressive list of cues including sit, stay, down, off, treat, come, drop, and no speak — proof that this lovely lady has learned a lot over the years and still enjoys engaging with her people! Though she is a senior, Lilly still enjoys the simple pleasures: a slow stroll, an easy game of fetch, enrichment activities, and especially anything involving peanut butter. She was incredibly affectionate with her family and truly appreciates soft snuggles, gentle company, and good ear scratch. Senior dogs often have a harder time adjusting to shelter life, especially after s
